    great, but...

okay the food as many have said is simply great , amazing , inspiring ! i have been coming here for the better part of 5 years . i have never had anything aweful here . i have found the wait staff for the most part to be polite and very helpful . maybe i got luck for 5 years!????? i think not . i thank the day i first walked in and ordered . it has changed my life . it inspired me to develop my own recipes using similar ingredients . they proved to me that yes it is possible , that i did'nt have to just chew on carrot sticks and eat leafy greens . my one and ONLY gripe is this . please pick up the phone if you are ready to accept take out orders . don't tell customer to call back in 15 minutes . you will definitely lose valuable business that way . instead ask what the order is and tell the customer that the order has been placed however it will go out at such a time ...get the point ? most people would be okay with that . if it is an order for pickup ( i called once 10 minutes early ) do not turn people away to call back in 10 minutes . speaking as someone who has worked in this city all his life , lunch breaks are way too short and we will order somewhere else . guess what ? you lost that money and possibly a customer , not me however i am extremely loyal . just some food for thought for the owners , if they are reading this . thank you .

This place makes me want to eat healty!

I love candle cafe. They have the most delicious variety of foods. Everything that you taste is just exquisite. They use the freshest fruits and vegetables, all organic of course. I am not a vegan, but this restaurant really shows you that you can still eat delicious food thats enjoyable and delectable and it can be good for you. I would recommend any of their salads. I love their miso spread and their tuscan seitan parmesan sandwhich is to die for. I will be ordering from them for a very long time. I just have two warnings for you. #1 Make sure u alwasy order about an hour before u start getting hungry because delivery takes forever. I am assuming that of couse this is a result of them being extremely busy. #2 They charge $5 tip for deliviery so if they delivier to you, then you dont have to tip them. Don't get fooled like I did. Tip is included. But otherwise...enjoy!

    Subpar Service, Great Food!

Yes, 4 out of 5 times the service is going to suck. But 5 out of 5 times the food is going to be bombastic! It's a veggie's dream. The skewers are to die for!

    Ugh

The waitstaff is just plain rude and act as if you are putting them out by ordering. My dish was not good. I had the Ginger-Miso Stir Fry, and the flavor of the miso completely overpowered and ruined the dish. How this place charges $15 for a disgusting dish is beyond me. My dining partner had the special of the day, which was a curry/Indian inspired plate. The curry and chutney were good, but not worth the $18. Overall I was extremely disappointed.

    Always my #1 choice

Candle Cafe (and it's sister restaurant, Candle 79) are my absolute favorite restaurants. The food is DELICIOUS (and I am not a vegetarian my any means!) and the portions are very satisfying. The porcini crusted seitan is a winner any time, any day. A must try!

    Not only for health nuts!

This place is great, both to order from and visit, though if its really busy it can feel a bit cramped. The food is delicious- there is a wide enough variety that non health food fans can find "acceptable" items to order and actually enjoy them. The chimichurri appetizer is a must. I own the cook book and use it all the time. You can ask for a gluten free menu too.
