    Well Worth It

I had the lasagna and couldnt believe it was vegan. A bit pricey but well worth the money. Go get it!

    Best Vegetarian in the City

This is by far the best vegetarian food in NYC. As for the UES, it clearly beats its competition hands down. The atmosphere is upscale and sophisticated - not the crunchy hippie type (if you want that, go to its companion restaurant, candle cafe). The food is as good as it gets and is very unique. The service was wonderful. The one drawback is that it is a bit pricey. But, for a great meal, its worth it.

    Best Vegan Food Ever

This was the single best vegan meal I have ever eaten. The portions were perfectly sized, so as to leave satisfied, but not feeling like you've gorged yourself (though with salad and dessert, I was getting close). The mixture of flavors was wonderful and surprising. There was not a thing on the menu I wouldn't want to try. It's not inexpensive, but for fine dining it is perfectly reasonable. For fine Vegan dining, it is exceptional.

    Skip it

Although the food is great, the portions are miniscule and overpriced. The atmosphere and staff are also great, but this can't make up for the problems. This is a place to go if you need to show off or be seen. To get enough food to leave full, you'll have to order at least an appetizer, entree and dessert and leave about $60 without drinking! Maybe, it's ok to try once but I'd skip it.

    Delivered All With Goodness

Outstanding! First vegan meal I'd ever eaten and I returned the next night for an encore! Loved the saitan, edemame with spice, and garlic mashed potatoes! The bartender is a star with presence and humor that create an environment likened to a midwestern home coming. Their creative chef has an unmatched palate for flavor combinations that make the customer both happy and satiated! Simply the best New York has to offer!

A Slice of Mecca in NYC

Love, love, love this restaraunt! Everything from the warm welcome upon entry, superb service and incredible cuisine (both aesthetically and palate pleasing)! Joy and Bart have created a slice of Mecca in NYC! I have dined here a number of times and will continue to return. The quality is consistent and the atmosphere evokes a feeling of relaxation and elegance.

    Consistently the best dining experience

Candle 79 does it all. The best food -- creative, delicious meals that never disappoint. It is one of the best restaurants in New York. You don't have to be a vegetarian to love this food. The atmosphere is casual eloquence. The service is friendly and professional. I have been to Candle 79 many times and the quality of the food and service is consistent.
