Not recommended
Last night my boyfriend and I had dinner here and I ordered the "sliced strip steak with olives, onions and side of rice and beans." I assumed the strip steak would be equivalent to a stew. My boyfriend ordered the gnocchi. Not only was his gnocchi over-cooked to a mush, but my "strip-steak" came out to be a pile of what I'd like to call, steak shoelace w/ some tomato paste slabbed on top, in addition to a portion of tasteless rice and beans. Pick your poison.

Great experience
Went here last week after going to a gallery opening across the street. Cozy place with good food and great drinks. My friend who had been to Candela Candela before said I had to try one of their mojitos, turned out to be really good advice. I loved the pomegranate flavor one! As for food, we just got a couple different appetizers. The bruschetta and calamari salad were really fresh and delicious. Will come back when I am in the neighborhood.

My Favorite Mojito Bar & Restaurant
I rarely write reviews but I have to say Candela Candela was such a great experience. I stumbled upon this spot in walking down second ave and absolutely fell in love. The food, the vibe and the DRINKS. wow. The mojitos were to die for and I recommend anyone looking for a combination of great food, great people and great drinks to head over to this spot.

Average. Nothing unique.
I thought the Italian and Cuban fusion sounded interesting. I usually get the pasta and it taste nothing spectacular. I think the Pasta at the next restaurant over is better (The picture of the woman). Anyways, they keep sitting us at the same table with the wobbly legs. I asked to move twice and they made us sit there anyways. The third time we ended up going there because it was New Year's Eve and it was the only place with available seats. The guy at the door was very nice and made us sit at same table. EVIL!

Don't eat here...
The host was rude - we asked her for water and she said that isn't her job and she walked back outside to twiddle her thumbs. My raviolis (all 8 of them- for $13!) were undercooked, even my 8 year old son could cook raviolis! The mohitos had a severe lack of rum - we are actually unsure if there was any rum at all in them. The gnocchi had cheap rubbery cheese in it and the Cuban sandwich had the same issue. Don't waste your money on this place - seriously disappointing.

Impressive
Some interesting food they are offering. I'll seriously disagree with the other guys. Usually i pay frequent visits to this place, may be it was an unlucky day when you didn't get served very well. The cuban italian mixed menu makes a great variety to choose from. The service does get a bit slow sometimes but not that often to give them a poor rating. The ambiance is great but i prefer to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. So i thumbs up from my side, and recommended as well.
