Reliable and Fantastic New York Italian
My husband and I found this place through the bar, which is amazing in the ways other reviewers have noted. But over the past 11 years, we've also come to recognize that Caneletto is a gem -- wonderful food, thoughtful and attentive service, and a wonderful E. 60s Manhattan atmosphere -- that we show off to our in and out-of-town guests as often as we can. This place has the full package of location, delicious food, amazing staff, and NYC charm.

The bar at Canaletto
I love canalettos bar. There is always a friendly face there and baskets of deliciouse breadsticks. Drinks are good and glass of wine much bigger then in other places. There is bunch of regulars. Everyone has a nice stories to tell you and you can enjoy yourself watching tv. Food is little expensive but it's worth any cents. Lady bartender is always friendly and cheer u up. Love it.

no longer patronizing this establishment....
There is a high turnover amongst the staff here in this business that had been around for 12 years. Prices are always in flux - one day charged $ 18 for pesto pasta, next time, was charged $ 25 for pasta! This place has seen a decline in business with the gimics, which is very dishonest.

Hold onto your wallet!
This is one of our friend's favorite restautrants. I have been here 3-4 times, and like it alot. BUT, be extremely careful The specials are way over the top price wise, so ASK the prices. Also, efficiency is one thing, but the waiters are TOO quick to clear the table, as though they were lined up outside waiting to refill the tables. Not at all relaxing. The quality of the food is excellent, just too pricey

Our favorite Italian restaurant in NYC
My husband and I discovered this little gem on our first visit to New York as a married couple. I forget who recommended it and I do remember it was hard to find the first time, but now we never come to New York without eating here! We love the fact that it is small and quaint and you can tell the locals from the tourists. The wait staff is superb and we have always found the food to be excellent as well! Give it a try and I know you won't be disappointed.

Always a great experience
We are long-time customers of Canaleto and have always had wonderful meals served by an attentive and friendly staff. So much so that we rented it out for a party. Highly recommended.

Elegant Neighbourhood Gem
This is sort of a hidden neighbourhood gem. Not very famous and totally tourist free. The food is superb, the service is great. The whole place is strangely robust, not very ingratiating but well worked and high class. A funny detail: the owner looks like the hotel owner in Fawlty towers.
