Wow
I stayed at a hotel on the block, got a hair cut a few doors down and sat at the Sushi Bar. I ordered what's called a Monster Roll (10 bucks). It was by far the best Sushi I've ever had. Nice pieces of Tuna, a little cream cheese, avacado, rolled with a couple sauces, pieces of mango and some cruchy topping. It was the best flavor. I wanted to get hungry again, just to eat more. No soy sauce needed. The flavor, texture and WOW was such a nice surprise. This was on a Thursday (7/14/2011) night and they had two Chefs working the Sushi Bar, none stop. They seem to mainly do take out, but they obviously move product. I will be back! It's not your Asian-Fusion Foo-Foo place, but I want to have that Monster again!

Good food, poor service
I went here when it was busy, so I understand the food taking awhile, but I didn't need to wait 15 minutes for the check. The sushi i ordered was really good, I just felt like I was there foreverrr. The place was also very loud, the converstaions i had with my friends was a series of yellings and rantings. Get take out or delivery.

Great food!
I went here w/ a friend for the first time a few months ago & have found many ways to go back. It was my first time eating Japanese & I really enjoy it. I go for their bento box. I feel they're very affordable.

Best Sushi Rolls
I come to Sushi Canaan because I love the way they make sushi rolls. Lots of choices, very fresh sushi. Try their sushi roll specials!

used to be better
This place has gone downhill as of late. Sushi is put together poorly and sloppily. It tastes ok - fresh and all, but it tends to fall apart on your chopsticks if you don't shove it in your mouth fast enough! Annoying. Also the cuts of fish have declined in textural quality towards the chewier side. Their lunch specials may be a good deal but I think I've had it. I feel like they must have lost their good chef(s).

Good takeout, anyway…
My company has shopped around for good sushi in the Chelsea-delivery area for years, presently this has beat out Daioh (sp?), killed Monster (which is just terrible) and generally risen to the top of the list. Food is great, always fresh, lots of variety, etc. Delivery is fast and they deliver beer, sake, etc. Not too shabby.

it's good-give it a shot
We get take out sushi from here every week. It's a really good value. Fish is fresh and we haven't been disappointed. Is it Nobu-no. But you ain't walking out of Nobu with a big ol' bag of sushi for 50 bucks either. Go try it!!
