We went to Campagnola Restaurant on a Thursday evening, and had the best Italian food I've had BAR NONE. I lived in Parma for 12 years, and the food at Camagnola was by far and away the best I've had anywhere in New York City, and I would go so far as to say better than almost all the places I've eaten in Italy. They have half a Parmesan cheese sitting in the middle of the restaurant and it is from this half wheel that the cheese in the mixed antipasto is gingerly taken with the special knife used on that cheese. The ravioli with porcini mushrooms was to die for, the fish my wife had was the best fish I have EVER tasted in a restaurant, my veal chop was also delicious, and the side dishes were as good as the main dish. The dessert was just as good, and the espresso coffee tasted like the coffee from the bar in Italy, not like hot water as in most NYC Italian restaurants. The only caution is the price. It is not cheap, but the food is well worth the extra few dollars. I recommend this restaurant without reservation.

The food and service were excellent! The waiter made us feel like we were part of his family, very friendly. The food was fresh, and delicious. This was a memorable meal and I would recommend it to anyone looking for good food. I do feel the prices are a bit high.

If your looking for great italian food in 10 minutes with someone you don't know sitting on your lap, this place is for you. I know this is Alex Rod's favortite spot, but he must be there after hours. I went there for a birthday in January. We were rushed from the bar to our seats which were literally attached to the table next to us. We got our appertizers and main course about 10 seconds apart. Without even asking for the check it was placed on our table. Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent. I just enjoy dining as a social event, not a race. Happy eating

This restarant (though a little pricey) was the absolute best i've been to since in NY. The waiter was great even when my girlfriend spilled her drink all over the table. The food is what you'd expect from a great restarant and the desserts were so good we ended up taking extras home. This restarant is classy and humble all at the same time . There was even someone downstairs to open the bathroom door for my girlfriend. Will return!

This may have been a great restaurant at one time, but based on the food they served me, I believe the people at Campagnola have started to believe all the hype and as a result, have slipped. The food is mediocre, at best. The (pricy) lobster was tough, the pasta (although perfectly al dente) was swimming in oil and the dessert (the Napoleon) was anything but light and airy. The prices are exorbant (for the mediocre food they serve up), but if that were not enough of an insult, then the pretentious attitude of the employees is.I patronized Campagnola based on the raving reviews, and walked away feeling like the joke was on me.
