    great shrimp

Home of the best shrimp appetizer ever! service was great - a little crowded, but that is because it is so good!

    Looks nice that's about it

We were seated 45 minutes after our 9:00 reservation time. The service was slow. The food was mediocre for the cost. The place looks nice that's about it. Not reccomended.

    Totally Overrated

We had a 9:15 reservation for 5. We weren't seated until 10:15. In the meantime, we hung around the bar where my girlfriend and I had the world's worst mojito (too little sugar) and G&T (tasted like seltzer). When we were finally seated, the waiter didn't show up for 10 minutes. The food was mediocre, at best. The beet salad with goat cheese was forgettable. The lobster and shrimp ceviche was not good. First, Maine lobster has a delicate flavor, so "cooking" it in a strong acid makes zero sense. Second, the fruit in the ceviche (papaya?) was mushy. I tried my girlfriend's salmon dish with lobster mash and it was also flavorless. Go for the ambiance and nothing more.

    Good Vibrations!

Calle Ocho is always worth the trip to the UWS. Alex the Chef must be back in the kitchen and conjuring up some yummy dishes undoubtedly. The atmosphere is immaculate along with the handsome service and staff. My Oro mojito came along with a sugar cane, which was pretty sweet and the Vegeteriano(wild mushroom paella topped w. a green bean salad finished w. a sweetpea ving.) is HANDS DOWN the BEST vegetarian DISH on this PLANET! Save room for their warm apple pudding topped w. a chilean grape sauce and pumpkin flav. icecream, its deliisshh and very "Fally like"

A must visit restaurant! Best cohito!

I have been to Calle Ocho numerous times during my visits to New York City, and every single time the service was superb, and the food was more than exceptional. The dinner buns they serve leaves you speechless, I promise. I can't wait to visit New York again, as the very first place I would have dinner would be at Calle Ocho. Do you tastebuds a favor, and definitely order a cohito!

If you can't make it to Miami...

Then you should try this West Side Eatery. We were amazed at the decor and the sangria was outstanding. The oyster shooters were a delight, but I would steer away from the mahi-mahi. Overall, it was a divine experience and we will be back.

    Not worth the money

went there for dinner this past friday. our waitress messed up both the appetizers and our main entrees. although she asked if we wanted a new order, she was rolling her eyes and tapping her foot-- as if she did "not have time" to deal with this... the atmosphere is pretty cool, for an uptown restaurant-- but the food is too expensive.
