    Poor service

The food was enjoyable, but the service was poor. I had to find the wait staff person to get another round.

    Would go back

Really enjoyed ourselves. The margaritas were ok, but not for the price. The staff was friendly.

    I wouldn't go back

We asked to be seated inside and the host seated us outside. Once we got the inside table, it took our waiter 15 minutes to come and take our drink order. He wasn't even busy - he was just standing around. The service was slow and the prices are a bit high. 3 sodas and a burrito cost over $28, and my mediocre chicken burrito was mostly rice and beans with very little chicken. I really don't have high expectations for Tex/Mex food, but it was way too loud, the service was poor, and it was overpriced.

    Highly recommend Caliente Cab Co

The food is excellent...and my wife was raised in Amarillo, Texas, so she knows good Tex-Mex, and the like--the prices are terrific, and even tho' the staff can be cranky---it's probably because most of the patrons don't tip so well....thus, they require a fast turnover to make any kind of living.

I have no idea why, but I love this place

What first attracted me to Caliente is probably the fact that it very well could be the most gaudy and tacky place that I have ever seen in my life. In my mind they have restaurants like this inside the Mall of America. The food is overpriced, tame, and tailormade for gringos. The waitstaff doesn't give you any time to sit, and they go out of their way to rush you out as quickly as possible so they can herd more people in. They play really loud hip-hop and dance music inside that makes it impossible to have a conversation. There are even TVs everywhere to distract you from looking at the person you are there with. My girlfriend (a professional food photographer) dislikes this place, and always complains about it when I take us here. Yet, for some strange reason I need to eat here at least once a month. I can't explain it, but every once and a while I need the kind of experience that only Caliente can provide. Every time I go here I have a blast (even though most of my pleasure is derived from the absurdity of going to a place like this when I live in New York City). If you can't enjoy yourself in a place like this, you take yourself way too seriously.

    Not recommended

I thought the food was ok. But the service was poor. The waiter said about eight words to us the entire night. I love a good mexican dinner, but this is not the place to have one. I will be going elseware next time I have a craving.

    Downhill

Unbelieveably rude serving staff and mediocre food make this a place for summer brunch and nothing more.
