Excellent Lunch Specials!!
I only come here for lunch because the place is very close to my office, but their lunch specials are totally awesome. For $8 you get a meat, plantains, rice, beans, and garlic bread. My favorite is the oxtail but all of them are pretty darn good. Load it up with the tabasco they provide and you've got yourself an awesome, inexpensive lunch. The service during lunchtime at least is extremely fast. Highly recommended.

Great food, SLOOOOOOW service!
We showed up after happy hour was over but they made allowances for us and gave us very tasty $3 margaritas- which was very nice of them. But then it took over an hour to get our food out- soup and another very simple meal... once it came, it was delicious, but i see no excuse for allowing for that amount of time for food to come out when there is next to no one in the restaurant. I don't know whether what we experienced was really unrepresentative of the restaurant, especially compared to the other reviews, but I will definitely NOT be going back to this place any time soon.

Excellent Food for Catering
I cartered Latina Calidad for a Party on Saturday, October 18, 2008 and the food was "Excellent" with great service for your Staff. Everyone was complimenting your food which was Lechon, Roasted Chicken, Rice w/Gandules, Yellow Rice, Black & Red Beans, Sweet Bananas, Mixed Salad w/Avocado.

this is my kind of place
after having passed this place betwixt home and chelsea market for ages, finally dropped in. it was all that i expected, and expectations were pretty high. paella was good we had the seafood and they were liberal w/ lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp and squid. the rice, tho, is the thing and it was all that. the surprise was the flounder best i've had. when i've had it naturally since its a light fish, its usually treated lightly. but, this had substance. large portion, lemon w/ herbs, it just hit the spot. g/f tends toward the lighter, but tendencies for this cowboy is at the other end of spectrum. this was oh so tasty for us both. server mentioned a more spicy version, which i plan on trying next time. service was attentive, but not overly so, informative, friendly and helpful. sangria was good and light, but we questioned how many apples were in the D/R. (server mentioned the cuisine was D/R.) happy hour is 4-8, or so says the placard outside.

Delicious food and friendly people!
I've eaten here a few times over the last several years and have always enjoyed the food. Went back this past Wednesday and the food was delicious as always. The service was even better with a super friendly waiter. I'm not sure when that reviewer went when they got bad service but I've never gotten bad service here. Things have certainly changed since I've been there last, it was actually quite busy! Our party started off with the mofongo, YUM! And the tostones were out of this world and the garlic sauce with it was even better (I don't know why garlic sauce is not always served with tostones everywhere). My party also got the fried pork chops, arroz con pollo, breaded steak and marinated steak. We loved everything! The only thing we weren't too crazy about was the mixed rice. It was as flavorful or moist as I had hoped. But that was a very small setback to a wonderful meal. Everyone was friendly and said goodbye and thanks as we were leaving.

Very good food...Amazingly fast delivery
I've never eaten in or even seen this restaurant in person. However I've ordered delivery at least 4 times. Each time the delivery arrived in less than 20 minutes so that was impressive. As for the food, since Havana Chelsea closed, I was looking for a good Cuban restaurant in Chelsea to take it's place. This place is it. Prices are very reasonable, large selection of dishes, and everything I've tried has been quite tasty. And just like Havana Chelsea, one order of any entree with rice & beans is enough to feed 2 hungry adults.

mediocre at best
We were in the general neighborhood, and based on the reviews on this site, we decided to give this restaurant a try. We were the only customers in the restaurant and all the staff were gathered at the bar. Our waiter was unfriendly hard to understand and definitely not helpful. We shared the baked clams which were tough and overcooked. We had the paella for two....more rice than seafood and, again, overcooked. When it was time to pay, it was hard to get our waiter's attention...too busy chatting with his co-workers at the bar. All in all, a disappointing and not so inexpensive meal. Cannot figure out why the reviews were so positive.
