Good Food - when they pay attention

I've never known a place that you need to project manage your order so often. Advice for customers - Don't pay for your food ahead of time, and look at your food before you leave. I've ordered from here about 20 times and they've messed up the order on 10. One time I ordered 3 of one taco and 2 of another only to get 4 of 1, 1 of the other then 1 of something else. Hopefully this was another persons order. I dig these guys - but they really need to figure out customer service and timeliness of preparing food. Waiting any more than 20 minutes for a burrito and a few tacos is too much - even on a busy night. Word of advice Calexico - when you make an order mistake - don't blame me. And when you lose my ticket - don't ask me if I'm sure that my name isn't Mark or Alex, I'm sure. A simple apology goes a long way to retain customers.

    Sauces make the meal

The side sauces that they have in the restaurant is by far the best part of the meal. If you order for delivery they will tell you they'll include the sauce but don't believe them.

the food here is amazing! i come here with my boyfriend all the time. he gets the pork burrito (which he swears is the best burrito he has ever had) and i get a veggie burrito or tacos lathered in crack sauce which is amazing. this place will make any meat lover or veggie eater happy as can be.

    Too Cool for School?

I like the food here, usually. The chicken is unforgivably dry and tough but that's not my biggest problem. What I can't get passed is that the simplest dishes take FOREVER to prepare with a veritable army of people in the kitchen! Also, they run out of things constantly - AGAIN tonight they are out of guacamole for the millionth time. How hard can it be to make? And what really gets me hot and bothered is that the employees act like you're an idiot for not knowing they're out of something. I was really routing for this place but the smug hipster employees and the arrogance of a place that's only FAIRLY good, has no place on my go-to list. Adios Calexico - you've burned thru your grace period. The rest of the neighborhood will likely follow - I'm hearing lots of like-minded grumbling!

    Tough, tasteless carne asada

I tried the Carne Asada taco and it was tasteless (even with the additional toppings), and the meat was tough and chunky. Also, the prices are ridiculous. A tiny side of guacamole (the size of the salad dressing container you get at most restaurants) was $2 and you had to pay for the chips, which all other restaurants usually include.

Our first taste of Calexico was take-out. I must say that if the take-out was that good I can only imagine how ridiculously amazing it will be to eat there. Best burrito, best rolled quesadilla ever!! The pork grits were insane. Worth the hype!

Best tacos I've had in a long while

Have been here three times now and every time I leave smiling and satisfied. The carne asada is rediculously good as is the chipotle pork. Tortas, tacos, burrito and grits! What more could you want?
