food was great but noise noise noise

Decor linteresting, very good food (maybe a little heacvy o salt) great looking people around. BUT so noisy one could not enjoy a conversation. When I go out it is as much about company and conversation as it is food... Linda

service beyond poor, food is fantastic

have been here a few times - always non peak hours but have had a rez. food is delish - baked eggs and coffee especially. today had a rez for peak time only to show up, no table. we were waiting for another party member to show, which took quite some time. never were we told we wouldn't be seated until all of us were there but when we saw one of two open tables for our party size had been taken and then a second about to be, we asked and were told, where's the rest of your party. we said in cab 5 mins away but we'll order before they get here. apparently that wasn't acceptable - 5 mins - are you kidding me - we've been waiting for 45 mins because you didn't honor our reservation and you're not going to seat us over 5 mins?? so we left. sux cuz food and coffee is good, but there are plenty of good places to go to - needless to say, won't be back. so, if you want to wait, enjoy the food, if not, highly suggest DON'T GO!

    Brunch in Soho

I spent my last Sunday brunch at Caffe Falai because a friend of mine had wanted to go for weeks. The service was professional and friendly and the idea of the "white restaurant with the elegant chandelier" made it a minimalist dining experience. But I'm not saying the food is bland. On the contrary- the cheese eggs and dessert are beyond words. Thanks!

    Delight in Soho

My husband and I had a late dinner there last night after having read the menu online. The food was really excellent - He had the spinach ricotta ravioli with 4 cheeses which was some of the best pasta we have had, I had short ribs that were well cooked with 2 delectable accompaniments. We shared the veal meatballs -" the best" husband says - and the spinach salad, which was nice and refreshing for a humid night. Were were also treated to a new scallop and farro salad dish that was delightful - anything drizzled in truffle oil is, and the scallops were perfectly cooked. The end of the meal came with a to die for tiramisu with 2 chocolate sauces underneath, and some kind of fruit cake that resembled cheesecake with a layer of strawberry within - we didn't love that one as much as the tiramisu. It was a great experience with an attentive waiter who was friendly and chatty. I give decor a slightly lower mark because my husband doesn't really like the mod victorian chandelier white on white look, and while I do I thought it didn't necessarily match the food, which was elegant but also very homey. Value is also not as high because while the quality was great, I thought for the money I could have gotten a fourth short rib on my plate. We will definately be back, but with friends. Beware a walk in, though, we were fine at 10 pm but it is in a popular part of the city and it is a tiny space on the inside, though helped a bit by a small outdoor patio.
