Best little Italian place ever!
OMG! This place was sooo good! The service was amazing (bartender is a hunk), the food was delicious ad very authentic (I had the mushroom ravioli), and you have to try the FaceBlizzard and the Tim Spadaro (these are specialty drinks the bartender makes). All in all, a very cute Italian restaurant that actually has a comedy studio downstairs for an added bonus.

Don't waste your money
This place is not great and its over priced. Went here for lunch with 2 friends. We ordered some wine. I got a glass of white and my friend got a rose. My white was warm and my friends rose was sweet and undrinkable. We all ordered salads - the goat cheese brûlée and the chopped salad. After a long wait the salads finally came and were appetizer size. They cost around $20 and came on a tiny plate with only a few bits of chicken and my goat cheese salad had beets which where just from a can. I am a foodie and I know what good food is and it is definitely not at caffe del mare!

Great for Lunch
Went for Lunch. While not a wide assortment of choices, enough was offered to please our party of 4. Food was great as was the service. Nice place, nice lunch. Great service.

Not recommended
We came here for a late night dinner, it looked cute and the menu looked yummy. Although they were nearly empty, they wouldn't let us sit on the side of the street where there was a breeze (it was 95 degrees) because there were only 3 of us. The server didn't even hang around long enough to take our drink order. We didn't see her until 20 minutes later, when she took our food order and ran away. We didn't get our drinks before the meal, and it took a half hour for our meals to come out. The food was really salty, and pretty lousy. I had mushroom ravioli; it looked great, but it was disappointing. We would never go here, and would warn friends about our experience.

Great late dinner, wonderful brunch
CDM is open, airy (looks out onto Bleecker and Macdougal so good for spectation), and charming. Candlelit at night, bright and sunny at brunch. Perfect spot to go with a small group, also I'd bring a date there. There are a few TV's set at low volume to sit at the small bar and watch a game. Medium - large portions, reasonable prices for its location. Staff was friendly and attentive. We stumbled in late last Friday night (they are open late), and were seated / attended to quickly. I am not a huge Calamari fan, but liked theirs - tender, very fresh, not too greasy. I really loved the pastas (ordered the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, also sampled a special which had gorgonzola cheese - excellent, I was jealous I hadn't ordered it) , my salad (A+ to the Caesar Salad with bacon and horseradish caesar dressing) and bread. Desserts were also delicious (Pineapple Tiramisu, Creme Brulee). Flank steak was just ok. We went back for Brunch Sunday -- eggs Benedict was perfect (one of us wanted it a little more done than the other, they came through), loved the fries. Also sampled corned beef risotto (I am not a huge fan of corned beef, but it was good to try) and the Mexican Omelette (Excellent presentation, though I was hoping for a little more flavor in the guac). I plan to come back when it's warmer as they apparently open up the window/doors and bring the tables outside.

Excellent Italian Cafe
I just had lunch here yesterday with a group of 6 total as it looked like a nice place to sit and relax. It was a very sweet place and the food was very, very good. Prices quite reasonable...lunch for 6 of us was $65 total which I thought for NYC was pretty good. 2 had burgers, 2 had chicken ceasear salads and 1 had the Rosemary Chicken Wrap. Portions were very generous and I will definately mark this place for the next time I am in the village.

Absolute favorite brunch spot
I went here once with a group of girlfriends and the brunch was amazing. I didn't remember the name at the time, but when a friend came into town recently we went downtown to find this place again.. It took us a bit to find it, but our memories served us well, and it was just as great as the previous time. The food was wonderful, the service was prompt and perfect, and the bloody mary's were excellent. I see many trips to this place in the future. I also won't forget the name this time.
