    Frequent diners

My wife and I live in the neighborhood and often dine here. We have always been extemely pleased with the food and the service. The fried calamari is among the "best in town" and the other fish entrees have never disappointed, especially the sole.

    agitating experience

Chose restaurant based on on line reviews and proximity to theater I was going to. I eat out very very often but was disappointed from the beginning of the meal when the bread arrived. This is an Italian restaurant in New York City with many many bakeries. They serve white bread which was terrible! Any plain Italian bread would have been better. Once the waitress took our order, we never saw her again. The prices are a little high for what you are getting. I ordered a salad which was $12.50. Icould have been sitting in a far better and nicer looking restaurant or that price. When my pasta dish arrived it had very very little sauce. The waitress was no where to be found. The person giving out the bread and water finally came over and he was the one to bring out more sauce. Overall the food is o.k., but there are always other restaurants to choose from.

    Excellent Dining Experience

I often use the reviews from previous patrons as part of my selection process, and it really paid off this time. “What a great group of people at this Restaurant”. Making reservations was painless and they graciously thanked us ahead of time. Heavy traffic caused us to be late by over a ½ hour late, but we called ahead and they told us to still come whenever we got into NYC. Upon arrival we didn’t have enough time to eat Dinner before our show, but they gladly accommodated us at the Bar where we enjoyed a drink and nice appetizer. Told them we would return later for Dinner. Upon returning we were greeted by name and once again provided excellent service again. Oh I forgot; the Food and Décor were great too. A very pleasant experience; will become a regular spot for us!

    service was amazing, food spectacular

On a rainy afternon our coats and umbrellas were taken right away. the woman who is the hostess was SO sweet. Food was delicious and I would recommend to anyone in midtown looking for some yummy italian, not too pricey. Wine list was great too!

    Very disappointing

I ate there 10/11/08 .I found the waitstaff pleasant but I found the food mediocre. The filet of sole was dry and the pasta was heaped in cream sauce. The service was slow and they charge you for refills on the iced tea and coke, $4 per. Outrageous. Not a pleasant experience.I wouldn't go back..

they did us a BIG favor...

I am writing about a specific incident on 9/18/08. I've eaten here a few times and love the food and decor, wonderful place! But what was above and beyond was the service by the woman who greets and seats you. (Wish I knew her name...) We were very late for our reservation due to traffic and called to say so. She asked if we were seeing a show after dinner. When we said 'yes' she said ' you'll never make it'. This woman offered to not only take our order over the phone, but proceeded to read the menu to us over the phone so we could decide. She did not have to do this and really went out of her way. She was not impatient at all (you know how us New Yorkers can be) while we decided what to order. We had our salad as soon as we sat down and our entrees were ready right on time. We made our show with time to spare, all due to the efforts of this sweet and thoughtful lady. Service like that deserves a mention. She really saved our evening. She did not have to do that and I appreciate both her and this restaurant. Highly recommended!

    A very satisfying meal

My friend and I tried this restaurant out for the first time, since we had tickets for a show down the block. We both thoroughly enjoyed the Insalata Capricciosa. My friend ordered the Ravioli Con Salsa Di Funghi Selvage..naturally I tried it and it was fabulous and you can tell it was home-made pasta. I ordered a swordfish special for $24. It's a very decent price given the 2 ample pieces of swordfish, and scalloped potato along with fresh vegetables. The fish was tender and succulent and beautifully spiced. The pièce de résistance was the Brown Betty for dessert. It was amazing. Overall a great meal, good service and a lovely atmosphere. I would definately go back.
