    Always my back-up plan

I always come here and its always wonderful. The best part is its open 24/7 but not anything like a regular stuffy diner. So if at 4am i'm am starving for some good food and or trendy atmosphere this is where i go. Their country fried steak with mashed potatos is wonderful!, its a total given if you want that comfort-food, mothers cooking thing. And their Cobb salad with hanger steak (or chicken) is also always tasty and a nice portion too!. Plus their mac& cheese is to die for, i'm not a big fan of mac&cheese in general but theirs is so good!!

24/7 classy diner-what more can you want

this is a terrific choice for brunch or breakfast or late night dining. the food is good - its not gourmet but then again, they arent going for that, either. you can get all the usual diner fare (better presentation, prettier staff and digs) - from eggs to waffles to sandwishes to everything else. this is a reliable cool place in chelsea. enough said.

It's a lot of fun and GREAT food

Cafeteria is a fun, energetic place, where everyone is having a good time. The people that are hating on it here are probably boring and are frightened by the younger hip crowd. The food is pretty damn good, which amazes me considering its open 24 hours a day. Try to tomato basil soup, its fantastic. The Mac & Cheese is also really good, and go for it with the white truffle oil and bacon. The drink selection is also good. From hot chocolate on a cold day, to the non-alcoholic mojito, its all good. Late night can attract some long waits though.

    not good

my food was actually cold to the touch. the waiter literally took my order and dropped of my food. that was the only time i saw him. and i don't think i have ever had to get up to go ask for the check before. perhaps i was just there at a bad time.

Very Good Food; Extra Charges add up

I went to Cafeteria for Brunch yesterday & my experience was good. We sat outside & had a very sweet & freindly waitress. The food took a little while to arrive, but they were very packed, so I didn't mind the wait. The macaroni & cheese was insanely good--the best I've had in a while! Their french fries, hashbrowns, etc.. are good. However, my eggs were good, but did arrive a little cold & my toast was hard, but was not inedible. My brothers burger was good, as well. However, their eggs come with smoked bacon & you can't substitute sausage for it, so they charge $4 for a side, but 2 people could split the side, as their were two big links of good sausage. Also, the $3.50 charge for a small orange juice is a bit ridiculous(the glasses need to be larger)! Otherwise, the atmosphere was really cool, & nice location. I would totally go back, but wouldn't get a la carte sides. Enjoy!!
