declining quality
We are neighbors and Cafeteria regulars until recently when the quality of the food plummeted and the kitchen oil is now so poor. The coffee and bread got really bad and cutting corners and raising prices is apparent. There are much better and healthier choices in Chelsea!

Obsessed
This is my kind of place. Small enough that I can scope out the whole room, but open enough that it feels hip & clean, and a place that embraces the art of deep fried dessert! Get the Veggie Burger so you don't feel as guilty about red velvet cake (I swear 1 slice can feed 4) & deep fried oreos! My girls and I love the champagne cocktails (blood orange mimosa is awesome). I've always called same day to make a reservation which seems to work out. Great vibe but music might be too loud to bring parents. Overall, loves it

So rude, so snobby, not sure if the chef went out to lunch somewhere else (a wise decision) but our food was mediocre at best.

Bottoms Up
The Bloody Mary here is basically the best I've had. I hate a thin Bloody Mary or one that uses cheap vodka. Here they have a flambe show and use jalapeno infused vodka - I'm impressed. I happen to think most of their cocktails are killer... word from the wise: you know there is a wait, come early and indulge with a liquid appetizer

Hearing about how 'trendy' this place once was...we decided to give it a try...who knew that there would still be an hour wait even though there were empty tables...So, after waiting for almost an hour, we complained to the male host who was rude & not helpful. It should have been a sign...cause once seated, the food was not good.

Long wait, but worth it
This is one of my favorite New York restaurants. There's almost ALWAYS a wait, sometimes as much as an hour, so you have to be prepared for that. I've never had any food here that was less than excellent; the fries were iffy but they changed their recipe and now they're as good as everything else. The macaroni and cheese is an experience. I also recommend the blackberry lemonade.

Definitely Not Your High School Lunchroom
Went today for lunch, and I was REALLY impressed. While the decor is nothing to write home about, and the noise level is pretty high, the food and service made up in a big way. I arrived at 12:40 early and the place was already pretty packed, but the hostess seated me immediately, even after I told her I was not expecting my friend until 1:00. The waiter came over immediately, and was totally charming; he continued throughout the meal, making smiling recommendations, refilling my coffee without being asked, etc. The food was excellent: a wonderful heirloom tomato salad with burrata, excellent calamari, and fabulous mac and cheese. They have nice outdoor seating, too.
