My sister and I took a trip to New York, were doing some shopping around 5th and 6th Avenues, became hungry and ran into the Cafeteria Restaurant. We wanted to satisfy our food craving the night before after clubbing but it was packed and the wait was too long (as we were told that it is a very popular restaurant, therefore always being crowded). So this particular day we read the menu and we were sold. There was a nice crowd, but we were seated (party of two) right away. Our waiter provided nothing but excellent service and he was very knowledgable concerning the restaurant. We are Miami natives and were totally oblivious to the fact that there is a Cafeteria right on South Beach. Thanks to our waiter we know now. The food was excellent (Maryland Crab cakes and Croissant French Toast) and the prices are reasonable too. The decor and ambiance is nice; so Miami-South Beach. The only thing missing is the water. Will definitely be trying the Cafeteria back home. Had a wonderful dining experience.

Went for the Sunday brunch. Nice selection, big portions and extremely friendly service. This place is always packed but worth the wait.

I always order take-out, so the only staff I deal with is the bartender who is always friendly. Try the BLT, the burger, the mac-and-cheese or the turkey and mashed potatoes. Decent prices - $9.50 for BLT and LOTS of steak fries.

The service at my one time here was horrible - the food was ok, but in no way made up for the bad waitstaff. If you want pricey comfort food, you may be better off looking elsewhere. Points for the music, though.

I have eaten at Cafeteria about 5 times, and each time I like it more than the last. The mac & cheese is a must try. It can be a little noisy, but the staff is very attentive and there is always fun music bumping in the background. Clean ambiance, and especially fun in the summer when the garage-like doors open up to seat guests outside. Great wine, and always a diversified crowd. Plus, it's open 24 hours!

I can always count on Cafetaria for delicious food at all hours. I love the mac and cheese and the green eggs (with pesto and goat cheese) and ham for brunch...it also serves a random but kickass fried chicken with waffles (2 great buttery treats on one plate) all day long... it's a simple, sleek and stylish restaurant. I never encounter any attitude here, the service is friendly and pretty fast. Be warned, though, It can be *very* loud at dinner time.

Mac and cheese was watery underneath the baked cheese crust. Honey roasted turkey was extremely dry...but the cranberry sauce was pretty good. Fried chicken was eh..., turkey burger is very dense & not that great, the fish and chips were decent. Overall, it's a nice place to meet up with a few friends to catch up, but not a good place if you're looking for a good meal. I usually need to have a good meal as well so I wouldn't go back...
