While waiting for a table on a Saturday night I asked the person at the door how much longer the wait would be before being seated. Due to the nasty response, and telling me that my business won't be missed if I choose not to wait around, I will no longer go to nor will I recommend this restaurant to any one. Customers should never be treated in such a rude and impolite manner.

Ive been here many times and received lovely and excellent service, on top of that, the food is to die for!, where do i start... The mac and cheese is unlike anywhere else i have had, it is rich and cooked to perfection, not to mention the flavors they have WOOT! going on from there, they have the best entrees, salads, appetizers, and desserts, i mean the chef must be a genius! i wish i could give him/her a huge kiss for the pleasure my mouth has gone through. To make everything even better the hot servers, hosts, and bartenders are great. almost always leave my phone number secretly for them;-)

I've literally been coming here since the doors opened 13 years ago. And i've seen servers and staff come and go. The ambience has always been lively and a bit noisy. That's cool. The food has been amazeballs. But......the service. Quite frequently there is a level of narcissism amongst the staff that is horrifically off-putting. Just this evening for example. Male bartender who is a pro: attentive, quick, friendly. Female bartender: dismissive, distracting the guy with gossip, dancing in mirror. Get orders right and refill some water.

I love the food at Cafeteria and there are a handful if people on staff who are amazing. But overall, the employees have a snippy, entitled judgmental attitude that is so inappropriate for the service industry. It is literally their job to make sure people have a nice time. It may not be their career, but it is their job. They should do it gratefully.

Ok.. so this was my second time here and for the second time I am NOT impressed. I ordered scrambled egg whites, turkey bacon, and homefries, which I feel is an easy task however they couldn't seem to get it right. Eggs were cold, bacon microwaved, and potatoes, reheated. My sis ordered a burger which is the second easiest thing on the menu.. It was so dry I was getting thirsty just looking at it. The atmosphere is ok, this place is all HYPE.. I didnt like the food last time.. and I didn't this time. It was time well spent considering I met my sis for lunch other than that... I wasted 25.00 on something I couldve whipped up 1 am in the morning after 3 glasses of wine.

big and noisy and very popular but the food quality slips ever downward and the prices creep ever upward. Pity there is little fresh on the menu and most of the "taste" comes from cheese, grease and salt. We were weekly visitors. Were.

DO NOT GO HERE. I do not understand how this place remains so popular. It is all hype with sub-par food, and even more sub-par service. Cramped seating, elbow-to-elbow, this place is nothing more than a factory for making money. The food was overly fried, overly dressed, it reminded me of Applebee's, only at least Applebee's doesn't go around dressing up like the latest "it" restaurant. Cafeteria is a horrendous addition to the NYC food scene, shamelessly offering uninventive, fatty foods at high prices. When the dishes arrived within 5 minutes of ordering, I knew it was a bad sign. Nothing is cooked fresh to order. I can just picture how it's all sitting there in the back- just waiting to be brought out. The only thing worth ordering here was the mac'n'cheese, but I cook it just as good (if not better) at home. LAME.
