Cafecito

Their food is really really good. I ordered their Pollo Cafecito with a side of sweet plantains. They are really delicious. I was skeptical of ordering Pollo Cafecito because I usually doesn't like chicken breast. But their spice made it really delicious. I ordered delivery and it wasn't as fast as I hope it will be (considering I ordered during off-peak hours). But the wait wasn't so bad, just plan to order before you get too hungry.

There is a plague of subpar Cuban restaurants in NYC, and this is one of them. When I found out the owner was from Miami, I was expecting authentic Cuban food. As I read the menu, my hopes raised... but when I took the first bite, let down! Every dish tasted under salted and under seasoned. The plantains even tasted old! I was very disappointed!

This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is delightful, and the food is authentic and delicious. However I am unbelievably let down by the new waitstaff. The restaurant is now infested with spacey hipster women, who can't pronounce most of the dishes let alone serve them. The last time I was there, our waitress managed to mess up every aspect of the meal. On several occasions you could see everyone table craning their necks to find the waitress while she stood behind the bar talking to her friends.

The decor had a warm and inviting feel to it. Prices were fair for Spanish food however, beware of the fish of day! As mentioned in previous editorals, everything on the menu is $11-14 however, the fish is $21, which is unexpected considering the entire menu's pricing.

I found the restaurant on menu pages in my search for somewhere new to eat in the east village. the delivery dish was excellent, so i took my friend a couple days later to give it a try in person. excellent, small neighborhood place feel. music was a bit much, nice to have a more active vibe - but rolling house music was tiring after a while. the dishes are tasty and there are a lot of nice choices. this time, both of us ordered the fish of the day, which was simple and filling. the bothersome item, was there interpretation of "market price". everything on the menu is about 11-12 dollars, very fair. their market price for the sea bass was $21. a bit steep compared. this is just a piece now, not a whole fish. dont get me wrong, money is not that big a deal to me - but i just like things to be fair. i felt a bit taken, a little more is normal for the special of the day, but nearly twice?

this place was great from all angles. food, service, atmosphere and price was not to bad. I had the bistec and it came with a portion of rice beans and plantains. everything i had was delicious and my date said the samething. service was excellent. definately going back soon. the only thing i did not like was when we were leaving, the manager/owner(?) checked the bill to see if you left money. atleast wait until were outside. besides that A+

I have been hearing about this place for quite a while... and being that I am not too familiar with alphabet city I had not taken the time to go but last night I wanted to do something different... so I asked my bf and another friend couple to accompany us... I also took my 9yr old son... although we waited bc it was 5 of us... and the place was completely jammed.... it was worth the wait... the management/waiter was extremely nice... drinks were good and strong... the mojito sauce... was absolutely the best!! Everyone enjoyed everything we tried... from the churrasco, to the fricase de pollo, we all loved it : ) I can't wait for the nice weather to visit again....
