can't justify a return
the good: the arepas were delicious. I had the steak and my father had the shrimp - both very good. Refreshing with the orange slices on the side. Good pea soup. Also, cute atmosphere and coffee to go was decent. The bad: waiting nearly 30 minutes without even getting the soup...I saw the waitress go out and get ingredients they clearly didnt have in the kitchen...also the waitress didnt write down the order so we had to review it 3 times. The side salad was eh with a not good bottled dressing poured over it. RIP OFF plantains ($3.50!) for half of a "sweet" plantain which was dry, not caramelized or sweet at all...just overall took way too long to get this food especially with the place being empty.

12 years later...
I resisted this place for a while...After twelve years in Gpt, I've learned not to trust any place that opens here. They either stink or close real quick-like. This place, however, is an exception. After what seemed like too long a wait for take out, I got some truly outstanding arepas anyone would be crazy not to love.

Arepas Montadas: Closest to Colombia Minus the Travel
I recently moved to the 'Point and I am obsessed with this place after a trip I made to Cartagena, Colombia. Prices are great--average meal is $7.95. I dine and brunch here at least twice a week. Food quality is great too!-Fresh ingredients, everything made from scratch, unique recipes...DELICIOSO! My fave arepa is Cordillera and best wine is the Brazilian Pinot Grigio since I am Vegetarian. I could do away with the abundance of tacos & burritos in the 'hood to replace it with delish arepas montadas.. Great addition to our 'hood!

yum
The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. The food is well-priced and tasty, they have a decent wine list, and the service is friendly. I have been consistently pleased. They are also LGBT-friendly (there's a prominent rainbow sticker on the door), which is a rare, welcome shout-out to the queers of Greenpoint. Yay, a non-hipster place to go on a date where you won't have to worry about getting stares!

Love this place!
I have been going to this place since it opened and it really is a great addition to the neighborhood. The arepas are fantastic and the service is always really friendly (a nice change from many of the other places in the neighborhood).

Great Food, Great Service
In regards to the 1.5 hour wait, I don't know how that could possibly have happened. Had to have been that one time. We eat here almost every weekend for brunch and during the week for their tapas at night (which is very romantic). I would eat here every day if I could. Everything I have tried here is excellent (and I have tried almost everything). Service is great as well. Highly recommended.

Great addition to the neighborhood
I finally went here for lunch and I'm glad I did, this place is great. I've been back twice, both times I had an arepa which came out quickly, wonderfully prepared and delicious. Prices and portions are totally reasonable and service (by the owner?) has been friendly and attentive.
