Cafe Un Deux Trois

I have eaten at this restaurant many times over the last five or six years, and still love it. The prix fixe menu is great before a show, it's easy to get in there, and if you go there after eight, you're sure to get a table- the place clears out for theater. The wine list is excellent for a mid-town restaurant and while there are some drawbacks this is still one of my favorite restaurants. Where else can you order Boeuf Bourginon and color on the table cloth while you're waiting? Is it authentic? Not completely. But if you're eating in mid-town you're probably just looking for a fast, decent meal before going on to do something else.

If you're looking for the Disney version of a fancy french restaurant, Cafe 1-2-3 is for you. If you're looking for interesting food and a sophisticated atmosphere, it most certainly is not. Both my date's steak and my own duck were bland and nowhere near worth the approximately $25 each we paid for them. Bottom line, Aunt Tilly in tennis shoes would love it.

We are frequent theatre goers and Cafe Un Deux Trois is our most frequented of area restaurants! Our experiences have been consistently excellent. We love the atmosphere, the food is great and the service attentive. I never order the fries because they are to die for, the best in New York I'm sure. On my last visit I enjoyed a tilapia dish, my favorite so far, but chicken, the salmon and the burger of other visits were also a good choice.

I lived in NYC in the 1970's when Un Deux Trois was THE place to go for a great meal after the theatre. Times change...and so has Un Deux Trois. This theatre district perennial exemplies the WORST of New York restaurants and French bistros under one roof. On a recent Saturday morning, the staff was aloof and borderline inhospitable. The restaurant was empty -- and understandably so -- but the service was still slow and my companion had to walk to the bar to get our waiter because we wanted more coffee. The bacon we ordered was dry and had clearly been cooked hours earlier. Since the bulk of their business is likely to be one-time tourists, they clearly aren't looking to "make a customer for life" out of diners. The atmosphere may rate a 5, but everything else about Un Deux Trois is second-rate.

I love, love, love 1-2-3! This is a convenient place, with a lovely atmosphere, good service and good food. They get you to the theatre on time or let you sit and chat till you choose to leave. Delightful every time.

This was my first visit to New York. I wanted to go to a French restaurant and this one was fabulous. The food was incredible. The filet mignon was the best I have ever had in my 41 years. The chocolat mousse was fantastic. Service was impeccable. I definately have to go back. I will be thinking about that meal for days to come.
