The noise level is dreadful! The salad is skimpy, which at $17 it oughtn't be. The charge for hot water for the tea is shocking as well as silly. I understand that coffee refills are $3; really?? Not at all a valuable addition to the Upper Eastside nor the museum dining experience.

    overpriced and overrated

We are from Austria and we were really looking forward to eat great austrian food. Unfortunately the Spätzle were overcooked, the Waldviertler Wurstknödel was just one dumpling, but the bread was good. The Sachertorte had the wrong icing (which is the most important thing that makes the difference between a Sachertorte and a normal chocolatecake!), and the Apfelstrudel was so hard, we had to use a knife. We expected authentic food for that price! To sell a tiny piece of a so called "Sachertorte" for $9 is not acceptable!

I've been twice, once for the prix fixe dinner cabaret and once for lunch. The atmosphere is nice enough. The food and desserts, though decent, are not so special as to warrant the prices. Coffee was good. I doubt I'll return.

    Not worth it

Tell me, why must you be forced to pay twice the normal prices for everything, even soda at $4. Not coming back. This place thinks they're too worthy of earning their money twice as fast, from tourists, it appears, because New Yorkers refuse to pay these prices.

    Pricey but worth it

I think our coffees were literally 8 bucks each but it was seriously worth it for the vibe. Think Munich in the 20s. Could have sat there all afternoon.

    Great sausages

Exhibition at Neue Galerie is closed until October 27th, so the Cafe is not so busy. Take advantage!

Everything very nice. Fine bread and great sauce with goulash Minor complaint was that room was a little too noisy. (And why do the Viennese spoil the chocolate by adding apricot jam?)
