Awesome spot
Great "Argentine" tapas, excellent empanadas (as close to authentic as I've found in NY), and killer drinks -- order a mojito in the summer - you won't regret it! Pretty affordable, too! The space is always crowded and gets pretty loud, which is why I only gave a 3.5 for atmosphere, but for drinks and food with a group of friends, it's perfect

Local Hotspot
My husband and I are huge fans of Cafe Ronda. It's nice to have a restaurant on the uws with a downtown feel. GREAT SANGRIA!! Tapas are excellent and the paella is very good as well. We also enjoy sunday brunch there. We have gone just the 2 of us several times and with 3 or 4 other couples (on separate occasions). No one has ever been disappointed.

Down hill on food
I have ordered regularly from here and the food has progressively gotten disappointing. Most recently the paella was almost inedible. I called to speak to the manager and I was told it's always that way.

Favorite brunch place in Manhattan!
I love Cafe Ronda for brunch. My boyfriend and I go there often on weekends and the lines aren't long and food is amazing! It's small and cozy and the wait staff is pretty good although sometimes they forget things. Other than that I'd say you must try it!

a new regular spot for us
Don't know how I haven't noticed this place before, I've walked down this block hundreds of times.. Finally tried it last night as our friends made reservations there. First off, the staff was friendly and attentive. The menu had a nice variety of tapas, with a South American twist. They still had the classics like chorizo, meatballs and papas fritas (which came in a huge bucket considering the price). The food was tasty, though we stuck to the basics this time. Will have to get more adventurous on our next trip. The sangria was tasty, and complemented the food well. The portions and price were good for tapas, and I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came. We managed to get out for $30/head after tax&tip, with a drink.

Who's writing all these positive reviews
Ate there last night with my girlfriend after hearing positive reviews from a few people. Sat down promptly and ordered a bottle of wine and our food at the same time. Our waiter must have forgotten the wine as I saw it sitting at the bar for a while and had to ask a busboy to have the waiter bring our wine over. Once the food arrived it only got more disappointing. The spicy garlic shrimp was dried out and in a terrible pink oil sauce which I've never seen before for in that dish. The "lamb" meatballs were 80% ground beef with a little bit of lamb thrown in...The shepard's salad was bland and had practically no flavor although the feta they used was decent. Finally the skirt steak was the most flavorless skirt steak I've ever eaten. We had to ask for salt and pepper to make the steak resemble an Argentinean steak....There is MUCH better tapas latin food on the west side...
