best in the hood
we've been going to petisco since it opened. the menu is interestingly different and the food is always fresh. you can really tell that these guys care about the food. the crowd is always a good mix of the neighborhood. the atmosphere is a little strange at first but it's kind of refreshing because it's not trying to be trendy. the people and the food make this place.

subpar service and inconsistent food
The first time I ate here I was favorably impressed. The salad dressing was excellent and the coconut chicken delicious. The service wasn't great, but it was adequate. The second time was only a few weeks later. This time the salad dressing ruined the salad and the coconut chicken was greasy, overfried and heavy. Did they change their chef? It was just awful. But worst of all was the young waitress who couldn't properly take an order for two that was exactly the same for both people and had us wait a half hour for the chicken she forgot to order after all the other food was served. She was un-apologetic. She even had a helper she was training...God only knows how...since she needed training herself. Mind you the place was not even crowded but she never once came to the table to see if we were alright or wanted dessert or needed the check. Then she charged more than the menu price for the same item I ordered the last time I was there and when I pointed it out to her she said the other waitress was wrong. When I asked for the manager she said there was none. I guess that explains everything.

OK But Overpriced
Most items overpriced, feels like they really need to go through the menu one by one and price items appropriately. The $14.50 fish tacos are a joke — taste and look like something you would get in a land locked state in the MidWest. Salmon is the best deal on the menu. All the salads are over $12 for no reason in particular. Tired of all these restaurants with what feels like arbitrary pricing...

what is happening there ??
Been going to Petisco since it opened. Really enjoyed it with friends and family - live just couple blocks away. The atmosphere was great, welcoming, warm, people working there made this place happen and as well great food. But ..... past few month we dont see anyone working there happy, the management = no management....... the people who make this place are gone and there is only couple people who really care ..... the food is still good but we rather take a walk to Orchid or somewhere we fill happy ...... guys wake up and do something because people start talking ......... good luck... we saying this with LOVE

Don't deserve such high rating
I just went to this w/ my friends & bro. I am quite surprise this place got such high rating!! I am surprise a fine cafe like this sort can't make a decent french toast.. The French toast came in sweet & soggy even w/o the maple syrup. The Zoe malawah that is to die for NOT!! Baically it is just Chinese scallion pancake w/o scallion add 2 eggs w/ spicy tomatoe sauces on the side.. NOT all quack up to be. If you want good& value, this is not that place.

lovely cafe, yummy food!
this little cafe is really lovely - everything about it! its menu is eclectic, but don't let that intimidate you from trying a variety of items on the menu. i live in the neighborhood and go there often. among my favorites: classic cheeseburger (sooooo good!); coconut fried fish sandwich; pappardelle bolognese; vegetarian lasagna, zoe's malawa (for weekend brunch only - please try this); and the desserts are fabulous. all the ingredients are fresh, and they try to use local and/or organic produce whenever possible. the staff are incredibly friendly and kind, and there are so many regulars from diverse demographics. all in all - it's a lovely neighborhood cafe with delicious, fresh food.
