    Wonderful

We order delivery from Petisco and visit the cafe often. Depending on when we wake up sometimes my room mates and I order 3 times at different intervals! The man who answers the phone is just lovely even during their busy brunch he is calm and friendly. I've been in the hospitality industry for many years and I cannot rave more about how nice the staff here is. Happy owners make for happy workers. The food is always fresh and yummy. Thanks Petisco.

    Overpriced and unfriendly

This place is not what it used to be. When they first opened, the food was amazing, the food was prepared with care, the portions were decent, and they made you feel welcome. Now they are willing to cheat in order to get as much money out of you. I was charged $11 for a mediocre (house) glass of cabernet last night, and was told the wine is not on the menu. This was not $11 glass or the type of service, and unfortunately this policy is very penny wise and dollar stupid. I live in the neighborhood and used to recommend this place to everyone. Now I will never go again, and will make sure to spread the word... unfortunate!!

    Great Lower East Side Find

Just dined with my family at Cafe Petisco. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. The food was fresh and tasty. The server was very helpful and the restaurant was very reasonably priced. Definitely recommended for a low-key local meal.

    Subpar, skip it.

I wish this place was good as I practically live across the street, but it was very disappointing. I will not be going back and I would not recommend it to anyone. The salad served with the breakfast omelet looked like it was a week past its expiration date. After I brought it to the waiter's attention his response was "I will tell them" , no apology or anything. Never mind that he never bothered asking how was everything, and he was more concerned with clearing the table than customer service. On their menus outside they say they strongly recommend well done eggs, but my wife's eggs were way underdone. Some of the other fare was ok, overpriced for what it is though, mediocre at best.

    Not recommended

I ordered a chicken pita with hummus and tahini. When the sandwich was delivered, you could not find the chicken in the sandwich, and the hummus and tahini were non-existent. The sandwich consisted of a few scraps of chicken and some hot sauce, and some celery? Hard to tell what it was. The price was $10.25. When I called to complain I was told by the manager, (presumably) that he had to check with the kitchen. He returned to say that is how the sandwich was made, and no one else had complained. He was quite defensive and rude. I advised that I had ordered this sandwich some weeks before, and I got a very good sandwich at that time. He argued with me some more. Finally I changed my order to a burger, and said I would return the so called sandwich. Interestingly enough, he didn't want me to return it. But I did anyway. Will never go near this restaurant again! Too bad it's the only one in the neighborhood.
