    Good food, poor value

I work across the street from Cafe O and frequent the place for breakfast and lunch. The selection is great, the quality is high, but the service is poor. The items have random surcharges. One day I order a bagel with cream cheese it was 1.50, the next day I order the same thing it was 2.50. When I questioned the cashier she became flabbergasted, apologize, and shrugged. Seriously ..

    Good food, great value

I work across the street from Cafe O and frequent the place for breakfast and lunch. The selection is great, the quality is high, the service is prompt and friendly and the value is great. Certain breakfast items have what is basically a random surcharge if you order them past 11AM. But even with the increased intraday price, I still feel the prices are a great value given the quality and selection of food.

    egg sandwich after 11

Overall, I think Cafe O makes a pretty good egg sandwich; only thing preventing them from receiving a higher rating in "Food Quality" is the fact that they don't do a very good job toasting the bread. My main problem w/Cafe O is the fact that they charge a $1/fee for egg sandwiches after 11am for seemingly no reason. When I asked, I was told by the manager that the reason was simply that “it was after 11, so there’s a fee”. The time of day doesn’t seem to add any kind of value to the sandwich and doesn’t seem to place any extra burden on the workers or the business, so naturally I’m somewhat baffled by that reasoning. To the manager's credit, he did point out that "you know, a lot of things in life don't make sense." He's certainly right about that.

    Turkey Chili

What's better then getting one free sandwich? I tell you what gentlemen, its getting two free sandwiches. the turkey chili is the best soup i've ever tasted in my life. there is a language barrier with the staff though. i've ordered the same whole wheat bread a thousand times but every once in a while they'll put my sandwich on white bread. still good but who needs all of those carbs.

    Great food, great price

The salad counter is the best. The chefs are quick and the food is clean. Best of all is that they don't nickel and dime you on the salad toppings. All salads are the same price. Large salad and small soup for 7 bucks. Very healthy too.

    Best Place in NYC

I go to cafe O every single night and it is the best place i have ever been to in nyc. The prices are amazing and quality of the food is even greater. I highly recommend the american hero and according to others their egg drop soup is to die for. My day drags on every single day because all I think about is going to Cafe O at 6:30 on the dot getting ready to order my dinner for the night and lunch for the next day and eating the complimentary bread. If i had to be a deli, i would be cafe O, hands down. I love this place!!!!!
