Great food, great price
The salad counter is the best. The chefs are quick and the food is clean. Best of all is that they don't nickel and dime you on the salad toppings. All salads are the same price. Large salad and small soup for 7 bucks. Very healthy too.

Best Place in NYC
I go to cafe O every single night and it is the best place i have ever been to in nyc. The prices are amazing and quality of the food is even greater. I highly recommend the american hero and according to others their egg drop soup is to die for. My day drags on every single day because all I think about is going to Cafe O at 6:30 on the dot getting ready to order my dinner for the night and lunch for the next day and eating the complimentary bread. If i had to be a deli, i would be cafe O, hands down. I love this place!!!!!

turkey sandwich
I go to this place all the time. The cooks are quick and accurate as can be always and the cashiers are the same. Always good, fast and friendly service. Except today- I got stuck with the manager writing down my sandwich order which was unusual to begin with. I asked for less turkey than the normal amount they put on and immediately said I would pay for the full amount anyway (I have done this many times before). The manager replied in a nasty tone that I should take the turkey I don't want off of the sandwich. He refused to put less on and didn't have a valid reason to back it up. He was rude throughout the conversation and walked away saying 'I am done talking to you.' If he had been nice about it to start, I would have gotten over the turkey, but he had a bad attitude and no excuses. I hope this complaint finds the owner. That guy is the weakest link of that place, all else is great.

Fantastic Value and good food
A sandwich with a small soup is $6.43! You can't beat that. There's usually about 6 soups to choose from and they put a solid amount of meat and cheese on the sandwiches.

Good people, good place, good food
I've been coming here regularly for almost two years, since I found out it was the best lunch place in the area. The food tastes very good, and the portions are very decent with their lunch special. What is more amazing is what they charge. For instance, a pint of Tropicana, a soup and a sandwich/panini/salid/grill item is always well under $9 or $10 (this would probably be less than $8 without the Tropicana, but I really like Tropicana). Perhaps the real objective measure of Cafe O's quality, though, is that the food hasn't made me sick in all this time. The service is also great. They've had the same crew for a while, so they know the food, and they work well together. This translates into solid service across the board. By now I go exclusively by their recommendations when putting together a salad or sandwich because they definitely know what works better than I do. Actually, don't even bother putting together your own sandwich; their pre-made panini's are excellent. The cashiers are really cool, too.

Great food
This is a really nice place if you don't want to spend a lot of money. There is a wide selection of sandwiches and paninis, and they also have a pretty big salad bar. I bought an eggplant parmigiana panini for around six dollars and it was excellent. There are also tables in the front where you can sit. I highly recommend this place.
