Great food and price
I come here for lunch often and find the price and quality to be great. So hard to find a decent latin food place in the area, this is the place to go...

Awesome place for lunch
I don't know about dinner.. but I can totally write about lunch. It is great food and a great bargain. There are numerous places in midtown that I have visited for lunch and non compares with this place. The chicken, pernil (roast pork) fried fish, assorted Rice & beans, salads.....I am a steady customer and know plenty who frequent this place as I do.

New Chef Needed
My girlfriend and I bought a coupon from KGB deals and went to eat here and we had the Churasco steak with Mofongo and Paella. Sadly the steak tasted like dog food and the paella was salty and the mofongo was off. We also an an appetizer of the guac and chips and the chips were homemade and they were greasy. The only good thing is the music and friendly staff. All they need to make this place great is a REAL CHEF. Food sucks, we left all our food and actually left with hear burn. Don't eat here.

Great place for dinner and drinks
Cafe Nunez is by and far one the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. I visit many latin dining establishments all over NYC and Cafe Nunez has wowed time and time again. Their excuitve chef really puts his all into their dishes. I also hear that they have great happy hour specials. Definitley check this place out, well worth your time and money.

Not recommended
This place is not Dominican first of all and the food is of poor quality and way too overpriced! If you are looking for real Latin food don't hesitate to go to Washington Heights!! They will not let you down!! I had the shrimp mofongo here and the it was dry and the shrimp was outside the mofongo instead of inside! Every time i tried to order a different plate of food bc everything else was overpriced, apparently they didnt have it! Who runs out of food!! This place was a total let down and I don't recommend anyone to go over there. The staff was rude and the place stank smelled like a corner bar

Not worth it for the quality of food you get
Last night my husband I were craving Latino food and decided to give Cafe Nunez a try. After spending $50 to have it delivered. We quickly realized the food wasn't that good at all. The paella was dry and didn't have taste...we had to squeeze lemon on it to bring out some type of flavor. I couldn't believe a Cuban/Dominican place didn't know how to make platanos maduros (sweet plantains) - they were dry and insipid. The only thing they did have going for them was the skirt steak although they forgot to send us the chimichurri sauce. The yuca was good and the chicken empanadas we ordered weren't bad although I did have to pull out some bone they left inside. All in all I can't tell you what it's like to eat the food at the restaurant. But, if you are going to have it delivered I would go somewhere else. That's too bad, it turned out this way because we always get excited about trying new places that sound promising.
