    Tasty and flavorful!

I stumbled upon Cafe Mingala while looking for a different place to order from on the UES and I'm really glad to have found it! I took the advice from some of the reviews here and ordered the mango beef, and don't know how I lived without it before. The beef was fresh (no gamey taste) and the coconut sauce offered a wonderful balance between a sweet and savory flavor. The vegetables included are crunchy too! Order the coconut rice with your dish, it has a delicate coconut flavor. I also tried the papaya salad, which was yummy and slightly spicy. Overall I really enjoy Cafe Mingala. I haven't been there in person so I can't attest to the decor, but the food is something you really should try!

    My favorite restaurant

This is the best food the UES has to offer! My favorite restaurant in the whole city!

Good taste is finally present on the UES

I was convinced that good food could not be found on the UES, let alone unique flavors and good pricing. (If I want to eat something other than my own cooking, I go below 14th St). Then, I tried Mingala. Oh my goodness. Mingala is a delight - I order from them every chance I get. Unlike most UES asian/pan-asian/west asian restaus, every Mingala dish has distinct spicing and rich flavours. Their meals are neither oily nor dry. Their ingredients are of good quality. Their prices are absurdly reasonable for UES food. Their delivery is reliable and fast. The only down side to Mingala is that the menu offers TOO MANY CHOICES - I have such a hard time deciding what to order! I highly recommend the Golden Ruby Shrimp, Sesame Pasta, Pickled Green Tea Leaf Salad, ANY curry, Mango Vegetables in Red Curry, ANY of the Phet-Htoke dishes, the Sweet Layered Pancake and the Sweet Banana. (*I do not eat land-dwelling meat - only fish and shellfish - so I do not know what their meat dishes are like... I do know, though, that you can request that fish be substituted for chicken or that meat be left out altogether in almost any dish on the menu). For those who know what good food is, try Mingala. For those downtown who think that you can't find good cuisine in barren yupville, try Mingala. You will not be disappointed.

The food was delicious. Great service for huge water drinkers they never left us dry. Great value for the money. The coconut pancake dessert was excellent and made me want to go back for more. Lettuce under appetizer could have been a little fresher and then it would be perfect.

    Different but great!

Very quick delivery. The homemade dumplings are amazing and the mango beef was excellent. The curry was nothing special, but still good. Def worth spending a little extra for the coconut rice.

If you want fresh, different food, then definitely try Cafe Mingala! Everything we have had has been amazing, the quality of their ingredients really comes through in their dishes. One of the best bargains in NYC.

    Cafe Mingala Mango Chicken

Mango Chicken + Coconut Rice = Something truly glorious... really. Ordered from Cafe Mingala countless times this summer, and the food was both delicious and cheap, especially the Mango Chicken. I tried the pineapple, and while it was great, the Mango is far superior. I'd definitely recommend shelling out the additional $2.50 for Coconut Rice... you'll never be able to eat plain rice again!
