    Highly Recommended (continued)

clicked submit before i completed the review (see below) For main course, the beef goulash with spetzle was music to my taste buds. Service from the australian waitress was attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

    Highly recommended

Went here based on # of 5 star ratings and vicinity to my apartment. The heirloom tomato salad w goats cheese bread to start (special) was something i'd walk hot coals to eat again.

    Amazing

Everything was fantastic. The pretzel soft and warm perfect. Beef goulash, bratwurst, ruben sandwich pigs belly...all I can say everything was delightful, authentic and special. Thank you Cafe Katja.

    Solid eastern european

The food quality here is very good. Great sausages and really fun appetizers to share. The staff are all very friendly and the beer selection is great too!

    Exceptional food, cute setting

Very nice little restaurant, with exceptionally friendly staff! Had to stand with a beer in the corner and was in the way of the servers, but not once did any of them seem bothered by me occupying their food routes. This is almost never the case in NYC, so it was very refreshing! Food was delish and authentic (having grown up eating food prepped by my Austrian grandmother). Beer selection was great and my fiance and I had a fabulous dinner at the bar consisting of Blood sausage and beef goulash with spatzle. Very charming place for those looking for an eclectic NYC experience.

    Very meaty place

I've actually eaten here before. It was very tasty. There are many different meats I didn't know what they meant but the waitress explained them. HOWEVER, they did not have saurbrauten NOR did they have eiswein (ice wine - didn't even know what it was) nor sweet Riesling. Maybe that's only German? The place was small with not many seats and me and my dad had to wait. I seem to remember the portions were small and I was still hungry - so we also ordered a pretzel. The menu was small too - one page only. I would eat here again, but not before I check out other great restaurants! (ie not a destination)

    great food, friendly sevice...

The bartender was very friendly and helpful with the wine and food specials. The owner was very accomodating throughout the night very friendly...even catching up with us on our way out of the restaurant to say thanks and make sure everything was o.k., which it was. The beef goulash was great, as was the pork belly special that night. I will definitely try to go back and recommend it wholeheartedly!
