Great place for the locals
I went to Cafe Joul with some friends tonight with high expectations and was not dissapointed. The person who took my reservation was friendly and helpful. Our waitress was friendly and we never felt rushed. Our water glasses were filled promptly. The entrees we ordered were cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of seasoning. Sauces were delicious and complimented the dishes quite well. The duck and calf liver is fabulous. The salmon although cooked well is good but a tad boring. We felt the prices were just right and would definately come back.

Cute and Quaint
I love coming here on a date-nite or with a friend. It's small and the food is outstanding =) I highly reccomend it!

Pleasant neighborhood spot
Alright, this place is very nice; the steak I had was quite good and well cooked, but c'mon. It's a neighborhood place. I don't see travelling across the city to eat at Joul (let alone from Jersey, Jersey Girl!). The best meal you've had in years? That's just going too far!

I go here at least once a month... This place is great! Great food, great service and the price is worth it! If you want to try something nice, cozy with great food.. this is your place... besides the fact that is located in a great neighborhood... and if you have a car.. there is always parking ont he street... try it, you will love it... A+

Hidden French Gem
What a delight from the first morsel that enters your mouth! A true French bistro, the menu selections are wonderful, ingredients carefully blended. You will not be disappointed and will be coming back for more. This is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that New York is famous for! Don't miss it.

Cozy French
Cheerful, friendly good bistro fare. The waitresses and owner always remember me and treat me like a special guest. The food is delicious and varied. My favorite is the light raviolli in a truffle sauce that i can taste for days. The warm chocalte cake is divine.

A Chef with a subtle hand
On a recent trip to New York, I had the pleasure of dining at Café Joul. I can honestly say that it was the best meal that I’ve had in years. The dishes were simply prepared with fresh, natural ingredients and a wonderful blend of flavors. The ingredients were blended in a way that was not overpowering, but were made a chef with a masterful hand. The prices were moderate for fine dining, and although the restaurant is relatively small, it was easy to have a quiet conversation even though the tables are fairly close together. It has a casual elegance. I highly recommend a trip to Café Joul and will definitely return when I am next in the city.
