    Neighborhood perfect

... and I'm not in the neighborhood, I cross town to go there! Intimate, comfortable and relaxed bistro with plenty of choices of great quality, fine wine and black and white film. Pleasant mix, worth it.

    lovely neighborhood french bistro

this is by far my favorite restaurant in New York. It's charming and delicious, yet still holds a lovely neighborhood restaurant feel. I've been here for brunch and dinner several times and it's always great. The specials are fantastic (usually steak or fish options), the mussels are good, the buger's amazing, the flourless chocolate cake is to die for. Brunch is not as amazing, but it's so pleasant to be there. The Rancheros are a good option, as is the salmon burger. Popping in for a bottle of wine, a shared cheese plate and pizza is also very romantic.

    A GEM!

Cafe Joul is everything anyone could want in a New York neighborhood place. The atmosphere is French bistro (think Balthazar but smaller and a bit quieter), complete with angled mirrors, bistro chairs and charm. The food is very special, with a small yet varied menu. I especially like the duck presentation at dinner. I have been eating here for several years with absolutely no complaints. The manager, Heidi, is also an owner and she does an excellent job of keeping everything running smoothly. The small bar is quite charming and will accommodate diners as well. This place is open for lunch and weekend brunch as well. It is usually packed on the weekends, so come early and stay awhile!

    Yummy

My sister Erica and I went for lunch and were very happy to discover this neighborhood gem. The atmosphere was very French, the food was delish and the folks who run the restaurant were extremely friendly...the service was supurb. We highly recommend this bistro.

    Cute Manager

Just went to enjoy the fine hanger steak last week and was presently surprised by the cute curly haired manager. Her service was attentive and courteous for the entire duration of my meal. Definitely a place to check out in the near future...

    Great place in the hood

Great food, service is slow, I mean sloooooooooow. Other than that everything we ordered was on the money, cooked well, presented well. will go back for sure.

    Great food, disappointing service

This was a cute, quaint bistro and the food was spectacular. We went this past Friday night and the lemon sole and salmon were fantastic. We didn't originally want to try the burger (yes, burger!) but it was very gourmet and tasty. Service on the other hand, was horrible. The girl who originally took our food and bar order was good, but the guy who was our waiter was awful. He dropped off the food and never checked on us because he was too busy chatting with other tables or eating his own dinner at the bar. The busser stopped by more times than he did and we finally had to ask him for water refills and then coffee after dinner. The waiter finally came by and just asked us if we needed anything else...didn't even offer dessert. He almost ruined what could have been a flawless dinner.
