My Love and I found this place a few months ago and fell in love with it. The first time we went it was relatively quiet. Just a few people. It has continued to.grow in popularity and while I am happy for them, I hope what I encountered Sunday was not a trend. It was packed with students on pads and laptops. Quiet as a church. We go there for the back patio which is quiet and pleasant. Seating and plants with a view into the basement. seating area full of charm and antiques. The coffee is Stumptown. While not my favorite, they make a cafe au lait the way I like it. Hard to find in a city where everyone prefers it dark with little milk. So we sit and are chatting when a girl with her back to us turns as if to say 'Your talk is interrupting. my studying.' This is a cafe, not a study hall. I felt like an interloper in a place that has done a good job of making me feel welcome. I sincerely hope that this is not to become the norm. .
