Not recommended, won't return
Hot summer day in the middle of July, stopped by after attending the service for a family friend. We asked if they were serving (was @ 4pm so we weren't sure if they were in between lunch and dinner service). They said they were serving and seated us, then ignored us for 15 min. We finally got someone's attn (mgr maybe) and he asked the bartender to serve us. We asked for water for the table and the bartender said no. We laughed thinking he was joking. So, we asked again and he said no. We asked what was going on and he said they were only serving margaritas and tacos. He literally meant it. We should have gone to another restaurant at that point but we ordered margaritas and a few tacos each. We finally got our water after asking the mgr again. The tacos and margaritas were tasty but I will never again visit this restaurant. Poor service, poorly managed and obnoxious bartender.

Muy bueno!
The food here is pricier than it:s competitor Gabriellas. However, much tastier food here. The scirt steac is awesome, one of the best ive ever had, enchiladas are delicious as is the guacamole. the garden is quiet and pleasant and popular. A long happy hour to boot. overall a great experience. great for a date.

Yum
Great neighborhood place. the best garden on the upper west side too. Excellent Mexican food, if a tad pricey is worth it. They have a long happy hours for cheaper drinks and delicious hors d'oeurves. The steak is succulently flavored. My only complaint is that too many have discovered it. A cut above Gabriella's the other Mexican hot spot in the hood.

Awesome Mexican Food!
I recently dined at Cafe Frida and had a lovely meal! The outdoor dining section in the back is beautiful and the food is delicious, hot and tastes very authentic. I will definitely be coming back! ps- order the shrimp quesadilla. It was incredible.

Delicious and quite authentic!
Excellent Mexican in the neighbourhood. The pork tacos are awesome and so flavorful. Delicous guacomole. The lamb entre was divine, and so was the salmon. Sitting outdoors in the backyard is lovely in the summer.

Our favorite neighbourhood restaurant
We were new to the UWS and this restaurant was a recommendation by someone we met standing in line at another mexican restaurant. Since our first night we have been back many times. The steak is the best we have had in the city and very reasonable at $22 / $25. The staff is always accommodating, friendly and happy! We love the 5 choices of salsa for $6. There is a great little back patio with lights and plants, its a great place to be on a summer night. We have no issues with the portion sizes they are more than enough for a healthy tasty meal....ENJOY!
