Friendly Spanish rest.
We were in the village after a play. We had reservation at another rest. for much later in the evening but were hungry at 4:30 so we stopped at Cafe Espanol. Seated in a rear room immediately. Host was pleasant. Waiter took our drink order but did not return for a while, which was OK. We ordered marascada and one paella Valenciana w/lobster. We were brought a salad (which we did not expect) It was fresh. Food arrived hot and was tasty- Lobster was very hard to crack and we wouldnt order the food w/lobster again. enought to take a serving home. I would go back -thought prices were reasonable.

LOBSTER!
I can't believe the great deal I got on Lobster this weekend. 2lb. Lobster for $24.00 . The lobster and sangria were fantastic. We had a great time.

Hmmmmmm
I used to love Cafe Espanol, and by heavens, the tapas are really great. Something happened though, it's not like it used to be a couple of years ago. The tapas no longer come on the wooden plates and the paella seemed smaller. still great sangria, esp. the white sangria, but *something* could be spiced back up again. Definitely worth the money though!

very mssed
Since I left NY for LA I've been craving Cafe Espanol. Funny how when you live here you take alot of places for granted. The Sangria and Paella from C. Espanol are not existent on the west coast. It was fabulous to be back in my favorite place.

Not recommended
After my disappointing and unfresh meal of aceitunas that were clearly out of a can, lobster stuffed with what appeared to be fake crabmeat (I asked specifically if it was real and the answer was "yes"), salad that was wilted, Iooked at the kitchen. Where do they keep the fish fresh? The lobster was not good at all, in fact funny tasting. Some of that could be attributed to this kitchen.

great to go back
i used to come here with my parents as a little kid and always had good memories. finally had a chance to go back with my family last night for my 26 birthday and was pleasantly surprised to see that things have not changed. the food was phenomenal and fresh. the portions were enormous. one of the best parts of the meal were the pitchers of passion fruit sangria that we ordered. the service was great and i cannot wait to go back for their monday night 1 1/4 lb lobster special that is under $20. im very glad to have rediscovered this place after over 15 years.

Very, very, very much impressed
Our party was in the area and decided to venture in. As soon as you walk in the aroma will make you stay...reminiscent of your grandma's warm, flavorful cooking! The stuffed clams w/ bacon and the mushrooms with crabmeat appetizers were just decadent. We all ordered a variety of the mariscadas and steak...everyone was VERY pleased. Plus, the sangria was simply what the doctor ordered :) We'll difinitely be back...we all loved the place and think it a gem! The ambiance and service great!
