My friend and I decided to have our holiday dinner at Cafe Espanol. The food was terrific and service was excellent. The only problem is that the restaurant was very crowded, as they were also having a private party, thus leaving fewer tables for others. My friend and I are both looking forward to going back at another time which we know will be very soon.

have been going to Cafe Espanol for 34 years. I have never had a bad meal. Food is delicious and service is very good. For appetizers I usually get stuffed mushrooms and chalupas. Two very good choices. For dinner I recommend the broiled lobster or one of the Mariscada dishes. Both are excellent dishes. Cant go wrong with either one. Summing it up I dont think you can find a better spanish restaurant in all of New York City.

Awesome restaurant. Food was great, very generous portions and reasonably priced. Fun and friendly staff. Service was very attentive. Look forward to returning again! We had been back many times ever since and it had replaced our former number one restaurant. What has made the place special was NOT only the food but the entire wait staff! waiter and with the two owners along with the rest of the staff made it a friendly, festive, party atmosphere and made you feel at home and part of a true "family". We have celebrated my and my wife's birthdays there for the last 2 years now going on three.

Love this place have been going for 4 years now. Everytime I go i know what to expect and i am never disappointed. Went for my birthday in Feb and they sang gave me a great treat it was fantastic. I love the broiled chicken and the pollo de cafe espanol is rich with flavor. My boyfriend's fav meal is the chicken in garlic sauce. Best appetizer is shrimp in garlic sauce. A nice portion of shrimp in that delicious sauce yum. And if they have garlic soup or clam chowder you will be in heaven.

The place smells like a fish market, Service is sloooow and poor (they didn't even bother warming the bread up - it was cold directly out of the refrigerator - did I mention we had to ask for it three times ?) Dishes were dirty Food was so so. We ordered two shrimp plates, one fish and a couple more appetizers. The only good thing was the Spanish Omelet; the rest, total disappointment. Don't go there. there are plenty of nice places around.

Spent christmas eve with my family and friends. The food was great , the mariachis were great , the service was excellent. We had paella marinera, tortilla espanola, ham & chicken croquetas, filet mignon, mariscada, and some drinks we were a party of 12. Defenitly will return and recommend this true taste of spain food.
