This was our second visit here. We ate her last summer, and we have been wishing to come back again. It was another wonderful experience. Both times for lunch. Last summer we shared a pot of paella and a pitcher of sangria....both wonderful Yesterday, I had the shrimp w/ garlic sauce...he had the chicken espanol. Both meals we excellent, and we were more than satisfied with the value. The service was not poor, not bad...good- but not great...would definitley recommend it for a great meal at a very good price.

Eat here frequently as I work around the corner. The lunch special is well worth it! I opt for the $10.00 lobster. It is always excellent, with nice sides. The service is a bit slow but not rude at all. I agree that there is a bit of a language barrier, but they should not dissuade from eating there. I have never had bad food there.

My husband and I love this little family restaurant in lower Manhattan. This is not the place if you are looking for uptown ambiance. It is however a good value for your dollar. The decor is plain yet comfortable. It can get a little noisy when it is crowded but, you don't feel that you are with the party next to you. The food is good and plentiful. The service is ok. The waiters speak very little English so be patient.

Cafe Espanol has good (CHEAP) lunch specials (TONS of food) and great sangria. Get it by the pitcher for best value. The food is only so-so, but we never go there for the food...it is an after thought to the drinks! The service is always attentive, but they don't speak much english so sometimes they are hard to understand. Can get busy during peak hours, but we have never had to wait for a table. Good for groups...can get very loud in there!
