there were 5 of us - 5 different entrees - and most were mediocre at best. the service was ok - they kept trying to move us along. granted, we weren't drinking, but the place was not crowded. maybe the sister restaurant on bleecker is better?

Had red sangria, very delicious. Came with free tapa. Free salad too. Seemed like homemade Catalina dressing. Could taste spices of either thyme or marjoram. Chicken Espanol special was very delicious. Surrounded by slight caramel bachemel sauce and stuffed with white cheese. Green beans were good too. Flan had homemade whipped cream with a real mint leaf, was not overly sugary. Service was excellent.

I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. The live music was beautiful. The atmosphere is shabby chic. The service was fantastic. We ordered the lobster specials. The sauce for the shrimp and lobster was so tasty I could have kissed the chef. However, don't order a version pina colada. The price you pay is practically the price for a real one.

This experience was the perfect way to finish off our annual family gathering! greeted warmly and seated right away (party of 9). large portions perfect for sharing and great value for the money. basic decor added to an authentic feeling. polite and pleasant wait staff, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere made for a fun dining experience. parking was no problem...but then we were in a stretch limo! We would DEFINITELY go back! (next time we want to get the lobster...which looked delicious!)

Immediately upon arrival into Café Espanol you are welcomed by the sound of cheerful Spanish music accompanied by the blending of margaritas and the mixing of their heavenly sangria. Café Espanol’s attitude suggests you leave your cares at the door and enjoy a drink, tasty food and great company. The staff and owner are without fail friendly, accommodating and eager to please. The food is festive, bountiful and delicious, not once has anything I ordered not lived up to my expectations. The atmosphere is a concoction of comfort, liveliness and neighborhood brewed with true Spanish flare. Whether out with family, friends or date, Espanol is the place.
