Not Great
I went with my girlfriend and my roommate. We heard some great things from Timeout NY and wanted to try it. First off, the alcohol prices were very high (higher than half of the entrees). They were out of absolutely everything my roommate ordered (he ended up getting his fourth choice). The sauces were pretty bland and oily and sort of boring. The server asked my girlfriend if she wanted the bill....before we even received our entrees. Maybe it was an off night for them....but I don't think so.

Unparalleled food; large orders, eh...
The food is truly outstanding. In particular, the Tres Leches cake and Cucumber Water are so good that I order them for friends new to the place -- I just ask that they pass on the favor to other folks. All the other food is just so *fresh*! That's why we order time and time again -- even though they *always* forget at least one thing we order on large orders. I don't think they've got a large order right even one time. So be sure to add an extra appetizer and Tres Leches cake to the order. But trust me, the food is *worth* it!

Nuked food
My boyfriend and I recently went there for dinner and were VERY unimpressed with the food. After waiting a while to order, we were informed that they were out of the grilled corn (I hear it's a signature, but just go down the block to Cafe Habana), guacamole, and other staples. My boyfriend ordered the black bean soup, and we both got enchiladas (different flavors). His soup tasted like water with black beans and pico de gallo in it. But that was nothing compared to the entrees. The enchiladas were cold, flavorless, and looked like burritos. I ate 2 bites, which is unusual for me, as I am obsessed with Mexican food. The drinks were ok, so maybe happy hour would be fun, but skip dinner.

Si se puede
We always come for happy hour. This is the only place where you can drink alcohol outside on the street. They even give it to you to go. The pork tacos and shrimp tacos rock. The only bad things are the corn isn't as good as the cuban place on prince street, the bartenders are super slow and the owner's family is always hanging around in the tiny place grabbing food from the kitchen and getting in the way.

Excellent, Intimate Mexican Restaurant
Great, great, great family-operated Mexican food. Excellent chicken burritos, fish and lobster tacos... Small sub-terrainian space fills up quickly but it's worth the wait. Also a great brunch spot - Huevos a la Mexicana is a favorite.
