    Not recommended

After reading positive reviews of this, we decided to go there, and we had high expectations. well, the service was lousy, they only bring half full cups of coffee, the cheeseburger was pre-cooked, we asked for our fries well done and that was ignored, my chef salad came in a bowl way too small so when i tried to mix it it fell all over the place, and even though the waiter saw a piece of lettuce fall in my coffee, he just laughed and did not bring me a new cup of coffee until i got up and searched for him to ask him to do so. then i had to wait ten minutes to get my bill, which did not come since the server was busy talking to someone behind the counter. plus the place was dingy and unappealing. and in addition, they only take cash - no credit or debit. what a disappointing experience in every respect.

    yum

I ordered the lox platter, which comes with smoked salmon piled on top of a toasted bagel with a schmear of cream cheese. Delicious. Fantastic food for a great price. Service was a little brusque, but typical for a NYC restaurant.

    Best whitefish salad in NYC

Stumbled upon this place many years ago when staying at the newly opened W hotel next door with my husband. (That tells you how long ago it was.) I tried the whitefish salad and keep coming back every time I'm in NY. I now have a new husband and I've turned him onto my favorite little NYC diner. Will be there this Sunday for my bagel and whitefish!

Great Eats in an "A" rated Restaurant

Love the soups. They are as thick as stew.

Just don't make them like they used to!

Certainly a legend of the theater world. This has been my consistent "go-to" spot for the better part of 2 decades! The matzo ball is always a hit. No one else comes close to the blintzes. Of course, it has its blemishes, but there just isnt any place left like this place!

    Classic New York

Great place with good, no frills food. Used to be the main dining room for the hotel back in the day--now a strange mix of architectural grandeur and coffee shop chic. Check it out.

    Good diner good, great value!

The Edison is my favorite place in all of NYC, and I feel the same way about Cafe Edison. It's nothing fancy or frilly but it is great diner food that fast and well priced.
