Horrible Service
Took 15 minutes for us to get menus. Our server did not apologize, and instead, returned and stood silently rolling his eyes until we gave him our order. Drinks were overly icy and they wouldn't bring more bread. Food took forever. Quality is comparable to other neighborhood places.

Fantastic food and atmosphere
I just had lunch here; after reading the reviews, I went a little later in the day and it paid off - there were only a few busy tables, so I had great service. The hangar steak was fantastic, as were the wonderful garlic frites; the prices are a little bit higher than listed on this site, but it was still quite reasonable. The inside is bright and sunny, it just put me in a good mood. The waiters were attentive, and it was just a welcoming, comfortable enviroment with fantastic food! I know that I will be visiting often, everything looked delicious.

Provence in the upper west side
I eat at this place 2 or three time a week the staff is very attentive and the food is wonderful, if you are looking for a fun relaxing evening you should try Cafe du Soleil

So nice and frenchy place!
I really wanted to eat the same food that I am used to eat in France, in Nice. I came to Cafe du Soleil, not only the food was the same, very good, but also the atmosphere. During my dinner with my friends I forgot that I was in Manhattan. The staff is very nice, many of them are french, they are friendly and attentive. So If you want to discover or to feel like in France or Belgium go to Cafe du Soleil.

Great food, mediocre service on take out
I love the food from this restaurant. It is well prepared, the portions are reasonable, and the price is good. What I don't love is the customer service. It seems to be my week for having things left out of my take out order. Cafe du Soleil forgot to pack my salad. Three phone calls and more than two hours later it finally arrived. No real apologies. No attempt to make it better. And having one delivery guy does not a two hour excuse make. Giving them another chance, though, because I really like the food, particularly the lardons salad, the coq au vin, the hanger steak, all the bistro classics. Just not the nicoise salade or the creme brulee (I can make better with one hand tied behind my back and my eyes closed).

Now completely given up
We have liked the food but had decided to avoid the restaurant itself - poor service to the point that these people should not get paid and noise so bad we couldn't talk - and just order in but, sadly, we won't be doing that either anymore. There were just too many problems with our last order - it was slow and cold, what showed up wasn't what we ordered and the staff was outright nasty throughout the process. If I ever hear that they've gotten it back together, I'd try it again, but they've been this way for 2 years, so I doubt it.

Cozy neighborhood favorite
Although the delivery is painfully slow, the food is excellent and it's a great little place to take a friend to lunch or sit down for a nice, not too fancy dinner. The portobello burger is absolutely divine and the hangar steak certainly is nothing to complain about. I highly recommend this restaurant.
