Great food, great service, excellent value

We have been going to Cafe Con Leche for over six years and have never been disappointed. The food as well as the drinks are very good. The service is great and the manager is super friendly. It is not a pretentious upscale place, just a great neighborhood joint.

    decent food, not service

i order from here regularly because the steamed veg in black bean sauce is a good lower calorie option, the habanero salsa is very good. i've had some of the other veg options and they were boring. ALWAYS check your bill, it's regulary higher than it should be. i let it go if it's off by less than a dollar, i called angrily when it was off by five dollars (!!!) and they were quick to correct.

    What's the big deal

I read these reviews and I think, "what do these people want? Cuban food Nirvana?" This place has great food. Is it authentic? I don't know, I've never been to Cuba. Is is good? Yes. Is it a great value? Yes. Will it change your life. No. If you want authentic Cuban food, go to Cuba. If you want a good meal based on Cuban food aesthetics, go to Cafe con Leche.

    Best Value/ Service=eh

This place is awesome. I live up the block and eat here ALL the time. The food is awesome and insanely cheap. Everything is delicious. The prices are so low. The only downside is that the service is consistently bad. No one is mean, they are really nice, they just take forever and sometimes they bring out the dishes at different times. Other than the service, everything is great.

    Not recommended

My wife & I, who live inPR, ate here yesterday (1-7-10), and unlike other reviewers, found the service very good but the food inedible. The arroz con pollo y chorizos was dry, fake-yellow, tasteless; the chorizos were neither Spanish nor Caribbean. The filete de pollo al limón was so lemony it was inedible. The black beans weren't bad, but the yellow rice was just rice with annatto, no ohter perceptible seasonings. There's got to be better Carib-Latin food in upper Manhattan.

    A Sure Thing!

If you like authentic latin food, casual atmosphere, and friendly staff, look no further. I've been to Cafe con Leche countless times and simply love the food and everything else. If you want upscale, try Son Cubano. If you want anything more authentic than this, go to Miami or Havana. Overall, you can't go wrong here!

    Service consistently atrocious!

This is my neighborhood restaurant, I walk by on a daily basis. The food is great when your looking for that Spanish goodness, but the waitresses are not. They are slow, apathetic, forgetful, and clearly have no concept of efficiency. The language barrier may play a factor, but everytime me and my boyfriend get there we are dumbfounded at how the service is.
