    Hidden Gem... get the pork.

After a year of meaning to go here, my girlfriend and I finally did last weekend. Place has an almost Disney feel too it... gimicky and bright, but fitting. The brought out some nice warm pressed garlic bread with a hot sauce and garlic sauce... the hot sauce is so good. We each had pork dishes... my girlfriend had the lime and garlic pork, which she loved, and I had the Pernil Asado (roast pork)... they describe it as succulent, and man, was it ever... moist, flavorful, little bit of delicious fat, thinly sliced. So good. Both came with rice and beans... tons of food, and we brough home left overs. Only complaint was that they didn't come by to ask if we wanted more drinks, which we would have if they asked before we were 3 quarters done eating. 2 drinks and 2 mains came out to $50 with tax and tip... great value for as good as the food was.

    Delicious takeout!

We're hooked on this place, though we've only done takeout. We had one bad customer service experience, but the food was so amazing that we went back anyway! Now we're regulars. Favorites are maduros, Chuletas Con Mojo (a delicious marinated pork chop) and anything with the garlic sauce! Have ordered with seamless web and phone, both quick delivery!

When I'm in the mood for the Dominican fried chicken or Roast pork and sweet plantains Cafe con Leche always delicious and hits the spot when you're in the mood for this food!

    Coming back!

I had reviewed this restaurant below and said it was going downhill. That was based on three disappointing experiences in a row. Well, I must really like Cafe Con Leche because I've gone back three times since and it's back to its good old self. I'm glad to say it.

    Fooled

Before going to Cafe con Leche, I wasn't expecting much from it, but the moment I walked in I was pleasantly surprise by the cool, calm, & cozy ambience...which really exceeded my expectations. Well boy was I fooled. To start off, the waiter didn't really know how to explain the menu items...when ask a question regarding the shell steak under "specials," he was not able to articulate how they prepared their steak. I let that one go and asked for a glass of White Zinfandel. He proceeded to shake his head saying no and said "No, Pinot Grigio." I was utterly confused and couldn't understand why ordering the wine I like was such a perplexity. He proceeded to say he would see if he was able to bring me "some." By the time our dinner came, I was already wishing I was past out in another planet or world. I'm the type of person who tries not to give up easily on food therefore, I decided to share a dessert. This was the straw that broke the camel's back, the tragic ending to a disappointing meal....I ordered the tres leches only to receive a piece of cornbread with a sweet, milky sauce. I am a big fan of tres leche and have luckily been able to experience some great tasting ones throughout my life. I proceeded to call our rude, clueless waiter to informed him that the tres leches given to us was a piece of cornbread with sauce and he finish our evening with the following: "It is not the cake that makes a tres leches, but the sauce." First of all, I completely disagree with his statement, second of all, he needs to go through customer service etiquette and training, and lastly, he was not even apologetic. All in all, if you are looking for a tasty, heartfelt, satisfying meal...CAFE CON LECHE is not the place to go.

    Downhill?

Food is still great and the service is friendly regardless of the crowd. There are several places where you will spend twice as much for half the quality. Staff turnover can cause some bumps in the road but I haven't noticed. Eat up.
