the pig died in vain
I wanted to try this place, and I wanted it to be good, since it is a) close to where I work, b) I love cuban food and c) the reviews are decent - at least here. I went, and I felt terrible for the pig since the pork was like eating hard rubber (I stopped eating, at one point, because my body wouldn't digest it, and I thought I'd soon need CPR - not exaggerating), the rice was near dry - actually, the best part was the hot sauce, which I can just buy at any grocery store. The people who worked there were VERY nice. The atmosphere - a nyorker, I knew what it was when walking in and that is fine. The food - I was so hoping this would be good and was saddened that my recycables ended up in the trash (aka landfill or ocean island) after my way less than adequate 'meal'. I won't return, I can't recommend - actually, it was a wakeup call, I am not eating meat for at least a nice while - so sad what they did to the pork.

The best place for Cuban Roast Pork!
I've been eating at Cello for over a year now (luckily I work close by) Their rost pork is to die for! The key is to ask for a little gravy on the rice before the mounds of pork get piled on and don't forget to say yes to the skin! Their prices are cheap for lunch in the heart of midtown. The workers in there are awesome and nice. The owner is def. number one on my list! I heard their fried chicken is good too, but I've only eaten the pork. If you ever chance to run in for breakfast, try the platter with two eggs any style, home fries, bacon and sausage and yes it still comes with toast, but it's absolutely delicious and a great way to start up your morning!

Heavenly hole in the wall
BEST fried chicken, perfect pernil, and much more. Many sides to chose from and inexpensive. Everyone who works there is nice and accomodating. It's not meant to be a fine dining spot, so maybe you'd want to take it outside or back to your office. Go try it now. You will be hooked.

Mmmm pork...
Had some of the entrees today with a group of people. The roast pork was fantastic - perfect flavor (although I put on salt, but i put salt on everything...), great with the hot sauce, and a nice crispy piece of skin to go with it. The grilled chicken was a little dry but tasty, and the roast chicken was fantastic. Several rices and sides to choose from as well. I totally wanna chow down on some more of that skin...

Definitely worth the trip....
Cafe Cello is a great place for lunch. The atmosphere isn't great for eating in (there's a nice park next door if you're not afraid to eat outside), but the food is unmatched. You can't go wrong with the fresh entrees, but I go for the cheesesteaks, which are by far the best in NYC (add red pepper, bbq sauce). After leaving you are going to want to tell a friend about the good food you just ate. Trust me.

We Love Cafe Cello
This place has the best wraps. We love cafe cello even though the grill nazi has left. The new grill guy is just as good at making wraps however the entertainment value of ordering your food has diminished. Top 3 Grill Nazi Moments. 3. Always saying good morning no matter what time of day it was. 2. Bowing to the Japanese girl when she asked where her wraps were. 1. Splashing grease on some guy and then when he complained telling him to call the police. Also with the grill nazi you were always sure to get some bonus chicken in your cheesesteak, but it seems the new grill guy has too much attention to detail and is too clean, and bonus chicken is a thing of the past..... oh well. The food here is definitely a 5. I would have gave the amosphere a 5 too for pure entertainment value but now.... we'll just have to go for the food. Where are you grill nazi?
