A big disappointment
I made a reservation for lunch and specified that I had a toddler, well everything was ok until we were told that some one had complaint about the noise. I mean in addition to the person that complaint, i thought that the employee who came to our table to let us know was very rude. What can we do if my son is 2 years old he was just having a good time, and no i don't feel like leaving him with a babysitter, he just has the right to enjoy a family lunch. How is he to learn if he is not exposed to eating out. If kids are not welcome here they should have told me that when i called. It just totally ruined entire day, this was supposed to be my mother's day lunch. I am never going back. Just to pinpoint i bet that most of these people were there for the prefix menu...I ordered from the regular lunch menu...

Innovative food- business casual setting
We were warmly greeted for our Restaurant Week lunch. BTW, there were more men than women eating there this day. The average age of patrons was middle, not older. Although there are a few sidewalk tables, looking at parked cars in July heat wasn't for us. Service was efficient, but I expected more--bread crumbs stayed on the table for a long time, but sugar packets were scooped up immediately, for example. My wife had gazpacho, spinach ravioli and ordered a corn risotto appetizer off the regular menu. I had a heart of palm salad, scallops with broccoli rabe and we both had apricot creme brulee with apricot sorbet for dessert. All the food was well prepared and the entrees had many elements, including foams, which enhanced the flavors of the meal and made it special. This was not a meal we could go home and immediately copy. The corn risotto with portobella and other vegetables was the biggest surprise--it was perfectly creamy, delicious, and the portion was so large that it could have been lunch by itself. If we lived in NYC and could afford it, this would be a place to visit on a regular basis--not fussy, but good food prepared with modern techniques.

Service with an Attitude
The food is phenomenal, and the wait staff is impeccable. I would, however, rather spend my money in an establishment where the Maitre d' is not so rude. If you can deal with how you are greeted at the door, then rest is fabulous.

Divine (well, almost!)
I went for restaurant week lunch. The salmon tartare, lamb, and apricot creme brulee were all excellent. The service was great w/o being fussy. Lots of ppl, but no redundant ppl, all working hard and with a smile. The interiors are moderate, and somewhat overcrowded, but this is restaurant week after all. A great choice! Ambience aside, when I decide to splurge on a dinner, I shall be confident of spending it here.

Small portion
Food is good but portion is too small. It's a popular place for senior citizens.

Great Service, some amazing dishes
My boyfirend and I visited Cafe Boulud on a Sunday night after hearing great things, when booked on Open table we put "romantic" and were seated on the same side of a booth together because of this mention. The service was excellent, all the waiters are very attentive. For an appetizer we got the lemon riccotta raviola which was one of the best dishes I have tasted at any restaurant and for an appetizer portion, surprisingly large. The salmon tartar that comes with your bread is good as well. Both our entrees, the saffron lobster risotto and salmon special were not as good as we had hoped. The risotto flavors weren't interesting like I'd been expecting since the ravioli was incredible, and his salmon was a bit dry. The complimentery Madelines were delicious. Would go again but order other dishes we saw instead. Overall a very nice experience.

fabulous
Just got back from a restaurant wk lunch and had a fabulous meal. I have to admit I was a little on the skeptical side before going as I am for all restaurants for Rest. Wk. bc a lot of places tend to skimp on their offerings, i.e. a soup or salad, and a pasta or roasted chicken, blah, boring. I was happy to be proved wrong by Café Boulud. Appetizer choices: Chilled pea soup Duck terrine Heirloom tomato salad Entrée choices: Beef Ravioli Diver Sea Scallops w/ sweet corn (3) Cornish Hen Sorry I couldn’t remember details but I had the duck terrine, Cornish hen, and a blueberry dessert which all tasted delicious. I also tried my friends scallops which was really good, I would go back just for that. I will admit, I am still a little hungry but that’s just bc I am a greedy pig and I didn’t expect large portions bc of Rest. Week anyway. Lastly I would like to point out that the service was very courteous as well.
