Great place for a wonderful experience

It has been awhile since I have dined at CB. The room is as inviting as ever and reminds me of some of the newer restaurants in Paris. The welcome, sevice and "good bye" reminds me of the adadge told to me by the late great Jean-Claude Vrinat of Taillevent in Paris: the experience begins when your foot first enters to the exit when it is over. This place gets it. The food was wonderful - immaginative, colorful, plate wise and delicious. While the foie gras portion could have been larger, it was well made and very tasty. The loup de mer in green curry and the rare duck breast in a cherry glaze were super. The bill was high, but not prohibitive. It is a very civilized place that any serious diner will enjoy. Disappointed at food and service

The food was good but it was not the best food I have had. Food was not up to my expectation of one of the best restaurants in the city base on its ratings. The bench mark for good service is to never bring a check to the table unless requested by the patron. It ruins a diner's overall experience to feel one is being rushed to depart especially when there are plenty of empty tables. They barely wait till we finished desserts to bring the check to our table when we did not ask for it.

    A perfect meal

I don't understand what the complainers are talking about. I had a superb meal at Cafe Boulud. Peekytoe crab in apple jelly, then an elegant paella. The service was attentive and not stuffy. My only complaint was that whenever the door opened a frigid blast of air blew in from the entrance to the hotel. They have to fix that.

    Anniversary lunch

I could not wait to go. Greeting at the door was great, table location perfect. First little problem was that I had a chip in my glass that was changed very promptly. We ordered from the regular menu. Appetizer salmon and the soup. Both were very good. Main dish was the beef not much flavor (I had to ask for salt!) and too cooked. The desert was fantastic with a very nice surprise as the chef wrote "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate on our plate. Service was very attentive, but I have to say that the French staff should be more careful when speaking to each other as some of us do understand French. Overall, good food not spectacular, very good service and very good atmosphere, but pricey.

    a great disappointment

The best thing about this meal was the wine although it was overpriced, The egg-drop soup was insipid, the sardines were mediocre, the cod was tasteless and underdone and the pasta with arugula and cheese was pathetic.

    Love This Place

It's a great place to come; I enjoy the atmosphere very much. They have delicious choices. Although pricey, if you are expecting this it's all great. The service is welcoming and pleasant. The waiters always check on you, and make sure you are satisfied. Any special occasion or pure desire for fine NYC dining, come over to the upper East Side and order up!

    Incredible Lunch Value

For $24 you get three courses (with three choices each course), caring and attentive service, and a refined elegant atmosphere. The place was packed at lunch, obviously upper East Siders know a real bargain when they see one. The flavors were stupendous, we had little butter rolls before the appetizer and sweet cookies with the dessert - gratis, extra. With well chosen $24 bottles of wine if you like. Nothing beats this level of dining for Value....
