Wow...flawless
I went to Cafe Argentino last night without expecting anything - a friend took my there because we were in the area. I was so pleasantly surprised... everything was perfect, from the very authentic empanadas to the laid back atmosphere and very friendly service. I felt like I was back in Buenos Aires for one night! My friend has the Pumpkin Ravioli and that was probably the best ravioli I had ever tasted. Can't wait to be back

Tale of 2 restaurants - bitterly disappointed
I've ordered from here twice and it was like ordering from two different restaurants. 2 weeks ago, I ordered the sirloin, rare. It arrived, and it was perfect. A thick, beautifully and perfectly seasoned and cooked steak. A quality sirloin. Last night (Monday, 8.30 pm), I ordered a sirloin again, rare. I'm not sure what I got, but it was overcooked (medium) and super thin. The steak was a huge, thin piece of meat, 3 times the width of the first steak (actually less meat than the first one, not that that matters), but flavourless and so thin it was barely lukewarm when it arrived. It was NOT a sirloin. I am still so in love with the perfection that was the first steak, I'm willing to give them another chance. I hope this was simply a glitch, never to be repeated. I gave them 3 because the 1st steak I ordered was a solid 5, but last night's was a generous 1. I'll update the next time I order.

Great food & service to match!
Empanadas are simple and tasty, do yourself a favor (meat lovers) and get the skirt steak you'll be salivating as you leave. Don't forget the sangria!

Authentic
So many Argentinian restaurants in NYC miss the mark. Cafe Argentino manages to transport me back to Argentina every time, without having to play cheesy tango, or mindlessly interpreting what they think locals want, making exaggerated dishes that only represent globalized international cuisine. These guys are authentic Argentina. Bravo, boludo.

Peter Who-ger?
I think the chef's name is Meat Jesus. Order the big steak, and you shall be saved.

Great Argentinian Food
Reminded me of cafes I visited in Buenos Aires. Great food and reasonably priced.

¡Barbaro!
When I called to find out how late the restaurant was open on this hot Sunday night, the man that answered the phone said the kitchen was open until 1 am and the bar was open as long as they felt like drinking. When I arrived I was surprised to see only two other tables were seated and the restaurant mostly empty. I sat outside and selected a glass of malbec off of their argentine wine list which was delicious. We had a small snack of empanadas (provolone and malbec braised beef) which were great. The service was good. Laid back. I can't wait to come back again.
