Not bad but they have to step it up!

While being pregnant i started using menupages to find decent food in Harlem( not an easy task) came accross this place and honestly its one of the closest things to a home cooked meal. Expect to wait a while for your food even though i'm not sure why besides the salmon, everything seemed to be reheated. and for some reason i was over charged amd didnt realize til after i got home. they have great potential but should watch the salt in their food, pricing and the condition and service. while waiting saw some other dishes that looked good so i'll be back

    Worth The Investment

If you are looking for a fancy restaurant with white linen tablecloths and a well dressed maite d' then this is not the place for you. Cafe 22 is small and plain, which is what makes it so adorable. There may be a short wait for a table and it may take a while to get your food, but that's only because of the rising popularity of the restaurant. So far the servers I've seen have been young men of whom I get the feeling are being mentored by the owner. When I go there I have the breakfast (which I feel is their best meal) and it is always delicious. So I see it as an investment in the development of future entrepreneurs while enjoying one of the most wonder breakfast meals in New York City.

    Yum

The food is wonderful. Just be prepared to wait for it. Nonetheless, the food makes up for the wait. The teriyaki salmon is great. The mac and cheese as well as the greens are not mama's, but it's good.

    Poorest Service I've ever seen!!

I ordered from home, was told 30 minutes (I live 5 blocks away), an hour later I find out it hasn't even left the shop. The man on the phone who seems like he's the chef, the line cook and the order taker shows no concern for his unprofessional attitude after I tell him I'm coming in a cab to pick up my order. I get there and if I had known the condition of the restaurant I wouldn't have even ordered in the first place. The bacon was burnt, i ended up giving it to a homeless woman in need. Never again!

    Disappointed

I came here based on the reviews. The cafe is small, cramp, very basic. The tables have cheap vinyl tablecloths that look clean but leave a greasy feeling to the touch. The food is subpar and the portions small (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Service was just OK. If you are planning to go out of your way to visit this place like I did then don't bother. Still looking for a good breakfast haunt (other than iHop) north of 130th ST.

    Yummy!

I went to this cozy place for breakfast today and fell in love! The food was delicious and the service was great. I had the shrimp and cheese omlette. My friend had the Salmon Cakes. We shared a stack of buttermilk pancakes. Everything was delicious and it was all served up with warm hospitality Next time I'll try the sauteed spinach grits. Can't wait! This spot comes Highly recommended!

    You don't know . . .

You don't know chicken and french toast until you have tried this place! I live in Central Harlem and finding a place that deliveries to me AND is good is VERY difficult! I got the french toast with fried chicken and grits. I am the type that eats the waffles and chicken together so I figured why not french toast. Nonetheless, the chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and fresh! The french toast was perfectly thick, with the butter already melted (I like that!), and the grits were already buttered (I like sugar with it too). All and all if you're watching the waist line this isn't the place but if you're like me (have a cold, and have a craving, and love mixing waffle with the chicken) this is totally it. I rate this place two hard nipples with no help from a cold breeze.
