    Stay Away

I've Been To Cafe 22 3-4 Times , First time I tried it it was take out , my chicken was damn near burnt . 2nd time I got fish and cheese grits which was over priced but it was very good. Third time was recent I took my gf there 2/08/2013 . I ordered buffalo chicken wing collard greens and macaroni & cheese. Sound easy when I got my food it was filled Mac & cheese on both sides , the owner then told me he had nomore collard greens. HERE'S WHAT TOOK THE CAKE FOR ME : 4th time visiting cafe 22 my gf like her meal , so she wanted it again. Every time I go in there it's a new person taking orders , i literally watched the order taker get fired right In front of me. And we had my Gfs 2 year old baby there. Then the worker charged me a extra 2 dollars each meal for his keeping He didn't know I personally kno the owner so I asked him what was the price for my meal and got my 6 dollars back. Even tho I feel I should gotten my money back for the whole meal. I had 2 pieces of barbecue chicken it didn't even feel me up.

    Poor Service

I may say this is the best soul food I ever had! but the other things that comes with it is slow service! Why does it take 30-40 min for my food to come out? and on top of that they dont give you enough food. And there meuns are not even updated. The prices change everytime I go there. If they would get it together this would be an amazing place to eat untill then I cant give them a good review.

To be or not to be...

The food here started off as being delicious and cooked to perfection but now it is barely that. They have VERY slow service I mean I could have went to the store bought groceries and cooked my own meal in the time i received my food. One day i went and the food was great next time i went and i barely had any food they served me bite size salmon cakes with old dry mac&cheese and some watery spinach. The food is good on a good day and on other days its unappetizing! In my opinion the owner needs to step his game up all the way up.

Not bad but they have to step it up!

While being pregnant i started using menupages to find decent food in Harlem( not an easy task) came accross this place and honestly its one of the closest things to a home cooked meal. Expect to wait a while for your food even though i'm not sure why besides the salmon, everything seemed to be reheated. and for some reason i was over charged amd didnt realize til after i got home. they have great potential but should watch the salt in their food, pricing and the condition and service. while waiting saw some other dishes that looked good so i'll be back

    Worth The Investment

If you are looking for a fancy restaurant with white linen tablecloths and a well dressed maite d' then this is not the place for you. Cafe 22 is small and plain, which is what makes it so adorable. There may be a short wait for a table and it may take a while to get your food, but that's only because of the rising popularity of the restaurant. So far the servers I've seen have been young men of whom I get the feeling are being mentored by the owner. When I go there I have the breakfast (which I feel is their best meal) and it is always delicious. So I see it as an investment in the development of future entrepreneurs while enjoying one of the most wonder breakfast meals in New York City.

The food is wonderful. Just be prepared to wait for it. Nonetheless, the food makes up for the wait. The teriyaki salmon is great. The mac and cheese as well as the greens are not mama's, but it's good.

    Poorest Service I've ever seen!!

I ordered from home, was told 30 minutes (I live 5 blocks away), an hour later I find out it hasn't even left the shop. The man on the phone who seems like he's the chef, the line cook and the order taker shows no concern for his unprofessional attitude after I tell him I'm coming in a cab to pick up my order. I get there and if I had known the condition of the restaurant I wouldn't have even ordered in the first place. The bacon was burnt, i ended up giving it to a homeless woman in need. Never again!
