    real Italian, but...

This is a real Italian restaurant, run by Italians (owner and several on the waiting staff). The food is certainly good, but their pasta sauces tend to be "americanized," i.e. too much sauce on which the pasta floats. Still, a good find. If you like cheese and pepper, then try the dish that gives name to the restaurant. But be warned, it ain't light fare...

Great Food but service needs work

Had a delicious authentic meal but service was subpar. Clearly the waitress forgot to put our entree order in which could have been overlooked if they handled it right. Barely an apology and nothing offered to make amends. Obviously, management doesn't care.

    AWESOME

Came here with a friend on a whim and we were both floored by the food. Loved the namesake dish, pear salad, clam stew & lamb chops (lamb not as good on second visit). Space was cramped. Staff was warm and friendly.

    Homemade pasta to remember

Nothing really fancy, just truly delicious homemade pasta. As good as I have ever had. Will be back - maybe today!

    almost italy

I went for dinner with a friend on a rainy winter day and this restaurant made it well worth leaving the house. The food was delicious, the wine (we picked the Monticatini) was beyond excellent, and terrific service without being overdone or annoying. I'll definilty go back

As authentic as one can get

Two visits, four pastas, all superb. The signature pasta, Cacio e Pepi, lives up to the cliche 'to die for' as it's very, very rich (and very, very wonderful). Antipasti also terrific. Service is professional (and not gooey). About as close as one can get in the U.S. to a (good, unpretentious) place in Italy, and I mean that as a high compliment.

    Great service, subpar food

Not good for the price, I tried the Maltagliati Con Vongole E Porcini which was salty but not tasty, as well as the Spaghetti Con Aglio Olio Peperoncino Baccala' Capperi E Zucchini Fritte which was simply bland. I liked the ambiance and loved the service but would not go back for the food.
