Subpar "Cuban" Food
The restaurant has a very nice appearance, but that's about it. The hostess sat us all the way in the back on top of other tables that were very crowded when the whole front of the restaurant was empty. The food is expensive and not worth a penny. The arroz con pollo tasted like Rice-A-Roni paella - it was awful, and not cuban at all.

Disappointing Experience
I am a food critic and I had a very unpleasant time at CABANA located at the Sea Port. I agree with the critics about this place the food took a long time to come out, it was cold and did not expected that from a restaurant with such good words from Zagat uh? What are they thinking. After talking to my waiter he had a little attitude and called the manager who I think had even worse manners and way to attend to the problem then the waiter. I will most defiantly not recommend this place to anyone.

Cuban Food gone bad
I ate here on a Friday during my lunch break with a few co-workers. The atmosphere is noisy. The menu is bleek, I ordered a lemonade, and I had a funny feeling it was not going to be fresh at all. If I wanted to pay $2-3 for Crystal Light lemonade, i could have just purchased some in the bodega on the corner. The grilled chicken came with some type of brown gravy, that tasted like gravy master. I did not touch the chicken, and the waiter noticed that it was uneaten. My response kindly was, "This is not what I expected." After i said this, the waiter kept staring at me the whole time. He then proceeded to say, "Next time order the chicken w/o the sauce and you'll have a more pleasurable experience. I didn't appreciate the attitude. This place is trapped way in the corner of the South Street Seaport on the upper level. I wonder why Zagat rates pretty much every place now? It shows how much I never ever rely on the folks at zagat.

Magnifico!
Went there this Saturday, late afternoon. The food and drinks were fabulous. Shrimp Ajillo, avocado salad, tostones rellenos, all excellent. The service was very good. Noone rushed you out the door, the staff was very attentive. We will make this a regular haunt as the view is as good as the food.

Great food Terrible Service
.The food and atmosphere here are Excellent, but the service is not good. We had not been to the restaurant in about a year because of bad service. We decided to give it another try, but nothing has changed The food is till excellent, and the service is still the same. The food is worth a visit, just be prepared for not so great service.

Good food, questionable service
Went there for lunch to celebrate a co-worker's b-day. Loved the salmon salad. But, they took forever to bring my order out. The other individuals had already gotten their meal and I just sat there waiting. Told about three servers that hadn't received my order when finally the manager came out to say its on its way. It took another 5 mins afterwards to come. They didn't comp- us or anything.

decent food, lousy service
Just went to Cabana yesterday in a group of 10. Granted, this restaurant usually seems to seat much smaller parties, but we had to wait an hour and 15 minutes. Obviously, we could have gone elsewhere with that kind of wait, but our birthday insisted on eating here. The real kicker was that the maƮtre d' kept telling us "15 more minutes", "a few more minutes". We kept going back to her to hear the same story over and over again. Finally we got our seats. The ambiance was very nice. I loved the atmosphere. There was even a live merengue performance and some people even got up to dance! Came time to order. Started off with a mojito and pina colada. They took forever to mix our drinks, roughly 10 minutes just to make a few cocktails. The pina was pretty good, but the mojito was terrible. There was hardly any rum in it! We also had a pitcher of sangria, which was pretty good. Food service was a long wait. We waited an additional 45 minutes before we started receiving our food. I started with the fried calamari appetizer, which was really good. I also had the grilled skirt steak, which was also pretty good. The dessert menu didn't look too appetizing so we didn't order dessert. The waiter told us that the birthday girl would get singing only if we ordered dessert. What a way to snub us for not ordering even more food. Overall, I wouldn't recommend unless you like the extremely long wait
