We went to dinner to celebrate a birthday, the place was empty when we arrived and yet we were sat at the poorest position in the restaurant with a rickety table, no less. When we asked to change tables, it was a flat out no and the offered to take our coats. The server didn't understand English, she never came over to check on the food, the bill was presented before we could order dessert and the manager disappeared while we were leaving - don't waste your hard earned money!

The portions are quite large - would share plates if in doubt. The service amiable and attentive. The food very tasty. Will return.

The food is disappointing and in huge portions, a double whammy. I have eaten Cuban and Caribbean food many time, here and in native countries, and the food at this restaurant tastes nothing like it.
great food and lunch specials

Chose this for the spot of a first date as the food was comfort food for her and we both absolutely loved it. The Empanadas were especially excellent. both our main courses were cooked perfectly and had excellent flavour profiles. The service was excellent and quite friendly. Good value for what I spent and I will gladly come back here again.

I've lived in the city for years and have visited more restaurants than I care to recount. But Cabana is one of the few places we revisit over and over again. The food is wonderful. The atmosphere is trendy but NOT pretentious. The service is excellent. And you can pretty much always get a table (...none of the West Village "we don't have any tables until 11pm" crap) Simply a GREAT restaurant!

I went with a group of friends and we all had a great time. My coco cabana vegetales were delicious- I strongly recommend it to fellow vegetarians and meat-lovers alike! My friends enjoyed their dishes (most ordered seafood) as well..they raved about their ceviche appetizer. The mojitos were pretty good- try the coconut. A bit more money than I like to spend but not so expensive that I wouldn't return. The only negative was that a member of my party speaks Spanish, and when our waitress discovered this, she spoke only with him in Spanish, even if someone else asked her something in English. Great place otherwise: friendly hostess, brightly decorated giving the restaurant a fun vibe, good music, and, as mentioned, tasty food and drinks.
